An Orange County, California attorney, James M. Parsa, 50, is now facing disbarment from the State Bar for abandoning numerous james parsaclients who hired him to perform loan modification services in October 2009, and he was also criminally convicted for unlawful sexual intercourse with a 17 year old minor who happened to be an employee of Parsa’s law firm.

Mr. Parsa was operating a large loan modification firm out of Orange County from 2008-2009 in which he scammed dozens of homeowners who hired his law firm to save their homes. Parsa had already been convicted of a misdemeanor sex offense in 2001, and received a two-year suspension of his law license last year in connection with the misdemeanor conviction.

On August 31, 2009, The Chief Trial Counsel’s Office of the California State Bar filed charges against James Parsa, owner and founder of Parsa Law Group, for moral turpitude stemming from his 2 convictions in Orange County for unlawful sexual intercourse:

  • 04/06/2000 261.5 PC M Unlawful sexual intercourse GUILTY 05/17/2001 Pled Guilty 05/17/2001
  • 04/06/2000 261.5 PC M Unlawful sexual intercourse GUILTY 05/17/2001 Pled Guilty 05/17/2001

At a State Bar hearing this week, Judge Pat McElroy said Parsa abandoned 43 clients and failed to return more than $120,000 in unearned legal fees. The courts found that while Parsa was facing a criminal conviction for the sex case in which his license would be suspended, that he still was marketing his service and collecting retainer agreements from clients even though it was clear he would not be able to provide them with his legal service and complete their loan modification applications.

The State Bar said that in addition to the 43 clients named in the court decision, another 1,130 people have filed complaints against Parsa. He was also under suspension in Nevada since 2011 for failing to notify bar counsel there of his suspension in 2009 for unlawful sexual intercourse with a 17 year old minor.

We have been reporting on mortgage crimes and loan modification scams by attorneys for the last seven years here on LoanSafe, and I would have to say that Parsa is one of the worst criminal lawyers that we have come across yet.
