Robbery of BB&T Bank Branch in Knoxville, Suspect Wanted

(Source: FBI) – The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Sheriff Jimmy “J.J.” Jones of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect who robbed a BB&T Bank earlier today.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. today, the suspect entered the BB&T Bank located at 7108 Maynardville Pike in Knoxville, Tennessee, and verbally demanded money. Witnesses described the suspect as a white male in his late 50s early 60s, approximately 6’0” to 6’2” tall, and weighing approximately 275 to 300 pounds. The suspect was further described as wearing blue jeans; a white T-shirt underneath a long-sleeved, multi-colored pullover shirt with horizontal stripes; dark-colored sunglasses; and a baseball cap. The baseball cap had a dark- colored crown and flames on the bill. The suspect was also carrying a dark-colored, drawstring type bag. After obtaining an undetermined amount of money, the suspect fled the scene.

A reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of this individual. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 865-544-0751, the KCSO at 865-215-2243. This matter is being jointly investigated by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force (composed of the FBI, KPD, and KSCO) and the KCSO Major Crimes Unit.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
