Hi All,
Quick story version: House purchased in CT in 2009. Wife lost her job in August, 2010. Was approved for a forebearance from March, 2011-August, 2011. Payments were $750; made them all no problem. Original mortgage payment has been $1953. Filed for chap. 7 in 2011 because of the job loss. Am on my 3rd modification specialist. First one, much like many others, never spoke to me after repeated calls and such over a 4 month period of time. 2nd one was able to speak with and offered me a modification $100 less than my original payment but with my wife on unemployment, it was not possible to make those payments. Without wife's income it was impossible to make payments in full. Transferred to a 3rd specialist, submitted all of my paperwork for the 5th time, and was told my only options are short sale or deed in lieu. Was told by the manager that I'm a total of 13 mos behind and owe roughly $25k. My wife was just hired back to work but doesn't start for 2 weeks. The specialist told me once she is working and has a month of paychecks to resubmit for a modification. I'm told foreclosure can start at any time but we have no desire to leave. I'm not eligible for HAMP and asked for EMAP paperwork to be sent. I've filled out paperwork with a verified HUD establishment and am waiting to meet with them. Much like others, I've feel I've been lead astray and am getting screwed over. I feel my only option is to get the money owed in full. We have very little in savings and need to ask friends. Does anyone have advice or suggestions that can help me? I have two young kids and do not want to make them go through this.
