Re: Our ASC/Wells Saga and Mediation update

    Jim,
I initially heard about the program on the news and in the paper. The website is NJ Judiciary Foreclosure Mediation Program 1-888-989-5277 I called the hotline and they put me in touch with a housing counsellor. Since I was in foreclosure and had a sale date, they made me an appointment ASAP at a local agency. The counsellor sat with us, took all our income/expense and other info (same stuff Wells asks you for) and then filled out paperwork requesting a mediation date and also the application for a HAMP trial/mod. While we waited for a mediation date (about 3 months) the sale was stayed. You can read the rest of my threads to see how the mediation process progressed. We ended up having to go 3 times, which they said was not unusual. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions.

    HAMP update

Well ...ASC/Wells Fargo denied my HAMP modification. I don't really blame them. The monthly payment is still too much. At 2% I'd have to pay 822 for principal and interest. that doesn't include 375/month on property taxes, and I still have a home equity line of credit that is running around 250/month. This would only save me about 200/month, which isn't worth it. I'm going to talk to the mortgage specialist who is listed on the NPV sheet. I don't think that ASC/Wells Fargo would have an inhouse modification that is better than the HAMP. So, after I talk to her...I'll be talking to a lawyer.
