Wachovia Pick-a-pay loans

Hello,

Need some help with my Wachovia pick-a-pay loan. I am currently 2 months behind and 150k in negative equity. I tried calling Wachovia today 877-446-0002 and spoke with a rep. Apparently she indicates they are not offering loan modifications but are working diligently to have one established. Then she gave a second number 800-778-8727 which is a wells fargo number. I've seen numerous posts where homeowners were getting loan mods so I'm kind of confused. Not sure what to do. Anyone have any advice. thanks in advance.

Hi underwater09,

Welcome to the forum and thank you for joining.................

Did you contact Wells Fargo at that number, to get the process started for a modification and to see what the options are going to be?

Re: Wachovia Pick-a-pay loans

Hi ***,

Yes I did, the Wells Fargo number provided was the re-fi dept. The rep gave me another number to call but I know that is the customer service number 800-642-0257. I know if I call it will be a rep trying to collect a payment from me.

Re: Wachovia Pick-a-pay loans

Hmmmmmm...A friend has the same type of loan, ( orig. w/World Savings)...He missed his first payment in Jan., and they contacted him around the end of March, say he was eligible for the MAP program, whatever that is...We've spent the past few weeks getting his documents together, etc...We're still dealing with "Wachovia", and after he faxes the last of his info in tomorrow, they've said we should hear something within 3-5 business days...I think that's one of the things that makes this whole thing so frustrating, is that people are getting differerent stories.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but Wachovia says they actually own his home.

Good luck to you.

Re: Wachovia Pick-a-pay loans

Hello Jule215,

Interesting, maybe I should find if my property is investor owned. Yes this is very fustrating, I don't know why the rep would say they are not offering loan mods at this time. Is there a contact number to the dept that handles the MAP? thanks in advance.

Re: Wachovia Pick-a-pay loans

Hello underwater09, I have the same type of loan but I am still current. I was given that same WF # last week and was told they had a program available that would help me refi out of my pick a payment loan. So I called and the rep said they didn't have the program quite ready yet but that it was coming in the near future...sometime this month. He said WF was working on getting rid of all the pick a payment loans by offering refi deals. He "notated" my account and told me to hang tight. I will probably call again tomorrow to see what story I get this time. I've been calling since February and each time I get a different story and a rep always says my account will be "notated" to show i am interested in refi'n out of my loan since I am underwater as well. I'll let you know what i hear tommorrow.

Re: Wachovia Pick-a-pay loans

Isn't that crazy??...We've got the same loans, but the word Wells Fargo has never been mentioned to us...The only difference might be that we aren't eligible for the Obama plan, because our place is a second home...So maybe that's why we're still in "Wachi World".

Re: Wachovia Pick-a-pay loans

Can't understand why Wachovia is giving homeowners the run around! So I called Wachovia loss mitigation dept today to inquire about loan modifications. The rep states Wachovia is still finalizing the loan modification program and should hear from them within two weeks. I've seen numerous posts where Wachovia homeowners have been offered loan mods. hmmm, don't know what to make of that. I am currently three months behind but I have money saved up to pay the deliquency. From what I've heard I would have far better leverage if I am deliquent. Maybe I'm saying the wrong thing to the rep. Can anyone share their dialogue when speaking with a Wachovia loan counseling rep? Thanks in advance.

Re: Wachovia Pick-a-pay loans

hi,

I have had difficulties as well. I have been told by attorneys that Wachovia is dealing with modifications. Apparently, they didn't in the past. I think you get faster results when you hire an attorney with these companies. They are in overwhelmed with paperwork.I have not hired anyone but thinks its the best/quickest remedy and if your in a hurry, it's a no-brainer.

Re: Wachovia Pick-a-pay loans

Well, I have a pick a pay loan, have been dealing with Wachovia since Feb 09. I am at least 5 months late---When I was 3 months late they finally gave me a number to call to talk to a loss mit dept----the guy pre-qualed me over the phone and told me to fax in my paperwork--I told him I couldnt give him all the data because I had to wait for bank statements---he said it was ok--just get it in, asked me if i could make one min payment, which I did--sent in my paperwork at the beginning of March and got a letter back telling me I didnt qualify because my loan wasnt "seasoned" (meaning 12 months old), and that my income to debt ratio was too high---in the interium I got a letter from Wells telling me something good was coming to me look for something from Wachovia in the next week....nothing ever came. I didnt know what I was going to do, so I called Wachovia back---got some other woman, asked her about the Wells letter---she said oh that--it is about an FHA loan??? NO thanks----I then told her that the neg am loans had no seasoning requirement, and that all the credit debt was going to be "debt settled"----she then says I have to wait 2 more months for loan seasoning. Frustratred, I called again several weeks later near the end of March, got some other guy---he told me to forget all that, Wachovia was offering a better deal now with 20% off the mortg balance...so he tells me to fax all my paperwork in----I told him I didnt think that was going to work well as I have like 60 pages of bank statements, etc etc----but I try---of course it didnt work, I get a phone message from someone telling me they didnt get all the pages (duh), of course I have no idea where this woman was, so I have to fax her a letter telling her I need to speak to someone so I know what is missing----I get a phone message from some woman at an 800 number. I call her back---she asks me if I can send her a package inter office---it is now about the middle of April. So I tell her I will make up a copy package, and take it to a branch---which I do---it is now the 21st of April---I call to make certain they got the info---I'm told it was recvd, on the 22nd, but it wont be scanned until the 27th!!! But not to worry, I will get a letter in a few days after that. It is now the beginning of May---I have heard nothing, and leave on the 14th to go to my son's law school grad back east and figure I will have some paperwork from Wachovia when I return. There is nothing in my mail. June 1, once again I call----what happened to my loan mod? Oh, they say, your app was cancelled on April 20!!!! because you didnt get all your paperwork in------oh my god. So then they are getting an attitude with me--well it's June 1st how come you are just calling now----excuse me----so I just blew it off---ok, so what is it I need to do NOW!!!!! She tells me she can see there are just a few items missing, and she is going generate a modification letter from the computer which I will recve in a few days-----So I asked her how exactly is she going to generate a modification contract when she doesnt have all the information and she doesnt know what is needed. She is confused---so I ask her, what are you planning on doing with my unpaid property taxes, did you roll that into the loan? She says, oh you didnt pay the property taxes, no, if I couldnt make the payments, I couldnt pay the taxes----I see this is a disaster in the making, but what is my choice??? So, we just left that subject, so what is it you want now?? Oh, well, you need to have 2 months more bank statements (they now have 6 months), copies of your tax return 2008---I havent done it because I dont owe anything---oh then an extention---you dont have to file an extention if you get a refund---and fax all those items to us within 24 hours----so I stay up all night doing my tax return for their benefit---and fax all that crap within the 24 hours-----so I call back several days later to make certain they got it-----oh yes, you guessed it----we have no record of ever recving that information, are you sure you faxed it to the correct number, yes, it is the right number or it wouldnt have faxed, and honey I have a fax log that says you got it!!! Oh, can you re-fax it please---sure, I dont have anything to do but keep re-doing information for you--well, call back in the next few days to make certain we got it---oh yes, and the loan mod letter that was supposedly generated by the computer---it was in essence the same loan I already have, just forgiving me the back payments----I dont want that loan thanx----when I asked the other idiot who told me to re-fax again, he tells me he has no idea as to what that letter is, and it is meaningless..he's never heard of such a thing----so, several days after I faxed the last re-fax I got a letter, once again, from Wachovia---it came on Sat---I havent even opened yet, I didnt want to ruin an entire weekend being upset over what will most assuredly be some other idiot problem----but as of tomorrow there is the new 90 day moritorium on foreclosures, so hopefully I will be able to resolve this mess before then screw up and try to foreclose----in any event I provided all this nonsense partially to vent, and partially so others will know it ISNT THEM----it is the whole flippin' mess with lenders and employees who's left foot doesnt know what the right foot is doing-------and just to make you feel better----I am also modifying my 3 other loans all with different lenders--Chase, WAMU, and National City (no Chase and Wamu are not the same, yet)----so, I'll keep you posted!!
