A way to save on perscriptions

See this link. It is a card you can download. Some pharmacies don't take it, but alot do, and I've known people who have a $150 prescription that they paid $50 for. Depends on the medication and the pharmacy.

Just download it, put it in your purse/wallet. Next time you have to get a prescription show it to the pharmacist. they can look into the computer and often give you an instant discount of 10-50% or more.

You just need one card and you can use it over and over again.

I play the prescription transfer game - whomever is giving a gift card with new or transferred prescription is where I go. Both my DS and I have monthly medication that we need. Almost every month at least 1 prescription is moved and a gift card (that I can then use for toothpaste, toilet paper, milk, etc) is received.

It's a small hassle some months, but I'm sure I'm up over $100 in benefits for doing it!

Re: Another way to save on prescriptions

Many of us in here who have no coverage whatsoever for our prescription medications have low enough income that we could get them for free from the prescription assistance program: Prescription Assistance Program | It's a bit of a to-do, getting qualified, but once it's done, they mail you three months worth of your prescriptions at one time, gratis. The one prescription I haven't gotten help with, I buy online from a pharmacy in India (for less than the price of some people's copays) -- I find the foreign pharmacies that do not sell controlled drugs and require prescriptions before taking your order tend to have lower prices than the ones that spam you about ****** and Valium. (I must say, however, that I'm very ticked off about having to go through all this. When I think of the healthcare debate and the pathetically stripped down public option we will get -- if we get a public option at all -- my blood boils!)
