Talking It Is Official Chase SUCCESS!!

Thank you for having this site. I have been reading the stories for awhile now and some of my questions have been answered. But some not. We purchased a home in 2005 during the housing boom and subprime era. We have a 80/20 loan and our 1st is with Chase. In 2006 our household's income decreased. In late October 2007 I called Chase to see if something could be done as our income had decreased and our ARM was going to adjust from 6.5% to 8.05% in December 2007. We had attempted to refinance several times but because the homes were depreciating and the loss of income we were unable to refinance. I even called Hope Now whcih was not a helpful experience at all..

Well the mortgage adjusted and its been a struggle since to make matters worst it is suppose to adjust again in June 2008 to 11%. To keep current on our mortgage payments some of the other bills are going iinto default. In March 2008 I subnitted a hardship letter and all the required information to Chase and am currently waiting for some information. I followed up last week but haven't been able to talk to the specialist who has my "case". However when I couldn't get a hold of him I called back and didn't put the extention # in so I could talk to someone. I was told that my case was sent to the underwriter on April 1. I don't know what this means but I really hope we are approved... Thanx for being there....

Re: Like everyone else

Hi RudyJay:

Welcome to our forum, I am sorry to hear of your hardship, all of us here have been there or are there now, you are not alone. I understand from other posts that Chase is making a concertive effort to help their homeowners stay in their homes affordably. I am sure with a bit more time you will see a positive outcome. I myself was a lunatic awaiting my modification but I can tell you in the end it was painless and well worth it. And I had had an uncooperative lender.

I am sure shortly someone will be stoppping by to give you some additional advice. But, in the interim I just wanted to pop in say hello, wish you well and let you know that we are always here for you.

Thanx for the response. I have been reading about the long process.. According to whomever I talked to the underwriter is the one to adjust and see what can be done.

Re: Like everyone else

From what I understand the investor calls the shots, that is where my delay lied, getting it off to the investor, approved and back again. The process really does take 45-60 days from start to finish. Also if you did not have a good experience with HOP NOW call back nicely ask for an experienced housing counselor. I struck out with HOPE NOW call back exercised my right toa a new counselor and she was extrmeley helpful. I did my modification with the sole help of this site and HOPE NOW helping me get on track with my monthly budget.

I am sure everything will turn out well for you, please remain optimistic. I know you think it is easy for me to say, but I been there dun that not more than 2-3 weeks ago.

Re: Like everyone else

Hi RudyJay,

Welcome to the forum and thank you for joining...........
I have to tell you Chase is working to modify as many of their loans as they can......but they are slower than molasses........
Think of the underwriter as a numbers cruncher..........in this phase they put together a modification package and present it to the investor to sign off. In Chase's case the investors have already given them the o.k. to work on the modifications that show the ability to pay going forward.......which it sounds like if your payment is modified, you will be able to do........
Since you are not behind on payments, this step will probably go a bit quicker for you.....
Please keep us updated on your progress......

We have been paying on time for over 4 years now and my buddy has been laid off even since NOv as a mortgage broker. Its April now and still nothing!

Hi Jason

Yes .. I tried calling HopeNow in November 2007. I explained my circumstance and he said "OH". Then I asked him about HopeNow and what type of advocacy services were available regarding subprime homes and foreclosures. He said that all he could tell me was to increase our household income. I said I understand that but in the meantime is there a short term or other options so we could keep our house or something else we can do until we could "increase" our income. He flat out said " No, I just gave you a recommendation". So with that I was done with HopeNow..

Yeah, we submitted numerous times items that the investors needed one being that my buddy was laid off. Time and time again they would just string us along. Finally, they gave us an application over night so we thought this was it. Since my buddy was a mortgage broker and no job he read through everything. There was so many tack on fee's that it was ridiculous. We didn't sign anything and asked them about each fee. They later stated they wanted more information that we submitted already. Its like a waste of time. I guess my mom was right about being late on payments for them to take us seriously. Sad but true.

Jason,

What fees are you referring to in an application process.......HOPE at 1-888-995-HOPE is a non profit entity..How We Can Help - Homeownership Preservation Foundation
.....they don't charge any fees for the help that they provide in being a third party advocate for you with your lender.
And also in answer to your question about having to be behind in your payments to get noticed.........that isn't necessarily true.......
If you go to the Success Section of this forum you will see that there are numerous Successes where the members were not behind in payments at all......

I apologize. I forgot we weren't dealing with HOPE yet in regards to my previous information. That was based on countrywide trying to work out a better loan for a 5 year stint. We are in the process of trying to get into HOPE but with no luck. Sorry.

Re: Like everyone else

I did a follow up with Chase today for an update. Not too much more to report. I called twice in fact. The first time I called today I had a woman which said to call back in two weeks that my loan mod is in underwriting and has not been assigned.

Yesterday I had a different guy and the story was it was with an underwriter and I should hear by the end of the month.

Because I had a different story yesterday , I called again today. I talked to a different person and he was helpful .. Although he couldn't tell me whether or not it has been approved , he did give me examples of mods that were not approved.. and he explained possible circumstances that were considered in loan modifications. Mentioned two types of mods.. interest amount for two years then a fixed rate and just a fixed rate for the life of the loan. He said he understood the anxiety and wait.

Thank you Kyle from Texas..

Re: Like everyone else

Well nothing to report. Seems that it is just sitting. I am getting edgier since it is due to reset again June 1 another $ 100.00. We are taking steps here to get our monthly budget under control. I just know we can do it if they would just lower the interest and payment per month. We were unable to refinance this loan because of decrease in income and a prepayment rider which is now done.

We have a second with Homecomings at fixed 8.75% is there a way to request a lower interest on this one as well? It has a prepayment rider until Oct. 2008.

Well it went like this...HELP

I recieved a letter in the mail from Chase today... Says that the mortgage is due to reset June 1st from 8.05% to 8.62%. We are current for this month. Realistically we are being proactive with our monthly budget as well... Trying to sell one of the cars so one less car payment etc. Still waiting for the loan mod...

If we don't hear by June.. I don't think we can make the increase. Oh by the way I did call HOPE NOW. The rep said that because I was current in my payments in his opinion the lender probably doesn't see my case as an immediate crisis. Is this true.? All my other bills are late and I am currently trying to figure out how to get through this month

Waiting for Chase

I started in the Tell us your story room and noticed that this was a Chase room. So I moved my comments here.

Please correct this if I did it wrong

Re: Waiting for Chase

I was never late with my mortgage. I actually was able to get the 5 yr freeze at my introductory rate, with countrywide. I would keep calling daily, and send faxes and corresponding letters after each time you talk to a Representative, remember Be persistent and stick to your guns.
