At noon today I checked our mailbox and found a letter from WF Mortgage Collections reminding us of this fact. I thought - screw it - I'm calling and laying my cards on the table. I've had enough.. I called the number on the letter and talked with a nice lady who listened to me whine and complain about how I applied for a mod in May and got denied and I found out they had plugged our numbers in wrong, and how they went ahead and escrowed our account without our permission or signature and how I cam't find anything in my mortgage deed/docs pertaining to their right to do that, I explained how our new payment with the escrow is $1000 more than it was and that we just do not have the money to keep paying "so what are our options?" She plugged in our numbers again, asked what our property was worth and 5 mins later said "you DO qualify for the HAMP program and we'd like to start you on a trial mod for 3 months while you get your updated docs in to us then we can make it permanent. Your payment will be $1300 lower than before." Holy cr..p. They are going to tack the 30 day late payment and back-property taxes they had escrowed onto the back of the 40 yr PITI and I don;t have to make the first payment for another 30 days. Are they for real? She said I will get something in the mail and no, this is not a forebearance, no balloon payments at the end of the 3 mths, etc. All this after begging them for neary 4 months, being turned down, given the run around, etc. I am grateful but somewhat sceptical due to what I have read on this forum.... I pray they are for real. |
