IndyMac & HUD Help for Homeowners

OMG! - IndyMac has got to be the STUPIDEST financial institution out there!

I have no paperwork in front of me, so I don't have the mortage banking #, so I made a call to the 800# posted in huge letters on the IMB website. I get the banking department which I don't realize until I speak with "Anthony".

He asks how he can help me and this is how our conversation goes:

Me: "I want to find out if IndyMac is participating in the HUD Hope for Homeowners program that took effect yesterday"

Anthony: "So is this about a loan?"

Me: "Yes, it's about a mortgage that we have with you that we are trying to have modified"

Anthony: "Oh, then I have to transfer you to the home loan department. But while I have you on the line, would you be interested in opening a banking product with us, like a CD or account?"

Me: "ABSOLUTELY NOT! (thinking I just told you that we are trying to modify a loan we can't pay and you want to offer me other banking services? are you kidding?"

So, he tells me to "Have a nice day, IndyMac appreciates your business"

.....Yeah, I am sure IndyMac really cares about my business.

So, I get transferred to mortgage banking. I speak with a woman named Taran, and ask her if they are participating in the HUD program.

She tells me that IndyMac will be participating in it once it goes into law.

I tell her that it went into effect yesterday.

She tells me that the legislation was passed, but they don't know what the guidelines will be, so until they know what they are required to do and it goes into effect, they will not participate, but will once they know what it involves.

I tell her all they have to do is look on the HUD site, the guidelines are right there. and that it's funny since I know of other banks already participating in it.

Taran "uh...."

I hang up.

So, that's it fellow IndyMac customers. They WILL participate in it. Don't know when though, seeing as I believe it is law as of 10/1 (yesterday) and I have already heard of other banks taking apps for it.

So, once again, I am call customer service. My QWR is in an envelope, I am waiting for hubby to get home to take it to the post office and mail it certified. I am thinking an email to teh higher-ups regarding the HUD program and our desire to participate will be going out later today or tomorrow.

Probably tomorrow, because my brain is fried thinking about having to write yet ANOTHER letter to these clowns.
