Angry Help with Greenpoint

I am trying to work out a loan modification with Greenpoint. They said that the investor doesn't do loan mods. I am trying to find out the who the investor is but they keep stonewalling me and telling me they can't give me that info because the investor pays them to service the loan. I got extension to 2 managers there however they won't call back. Funny how that works. Any ideas on this one?? Thank you.

Welcome to the forum and thank you for joining...............
Unfortunately the servicing agent does not have to give out that information because that is why the investors pay them. The investor will not work directly with a customer and most investors have already given the servicing companies the instructions on whether they will or won't modify loans........

What is the interest rate at?
What typeof loan is this?
Is it fixed or adjustable?
If adjustable when is it adjusting?
Are you paying interest only or PITI?
Are you in default?
What state are you in?


You could try to send a QWR asking who the investor is............there are examples in the Homeowner Tool Box to the left of the forum and send it certified mail return receipt requested to:

Attention Processing Department
P.O. Box 84013
Columbus, GA 31908-4013

  1. The interest rate is at 6.625% already in adjustment.
  2. It went up from 5.875% I/O
  3. Due for May
  4. State is CA
  5. 1st is 607K 2nd 125K
Here is the thing is it is going back down to 5.875% in sept. but the 1st is for more than what the home is worth. There is also a 2nd on the home of $125K and that payment is $1200. I've contacted the holder of the second and it is 1st Tennessee. The rep I spoke to says they won't modify the second they will only do short sales. So I asked if they rather make the payments more affordable or just get nothing if it forcloses doesn't make sense. I am still trying to get in touch with the lady who makes those decisions.

The lenders are not doing principle reductions if that is what you are looking for at this time...........whether or not they will in the future is anyone's guess.........and the interest rate you have is lower than most workouts that require escrows which would raise your payment.

Since the second has already indicated that they are willing to do a short sale which most of the time only nets them between 1k-2500 then you might want to see on October 1st when the new FHA program rolls out if you are able to qualify for that instead..............something like that might work in your favor since the second seems to be wanting to work with you for a short sale.......
and you would be able to get rid of Greenpoint..........
