I am in Rhode Island. I bought a house four years ago....was 25 and really nieve. My monthly house payment is $2600.00 and is adjustable and scheduled to go up in December. I'm barely able to pay that every single month. My husband and I scrape and scrape to get by and we have little kids....it's not a huge house, it's just a regular house in a regular neighborhood. I don't have great credit because everything else gets paid late because I have to make the house payment. Does anyone have any advice at all? I've tried to refinanace and been told that I don't qualify because of the poor credit scores. I really don't want to walk away from this house and let it be auctioned off. It's the only real home i've ever had and it gives me a good feeling for my kids to have a stable place to live. I'm so scared every single month. I don't even think we could sell it if we had to because the market is so bad. Any advice would be so appreciated. Are there organizations to help people in this situation? Can I be proactive and write letters to get a lower rate? How do I do that and where do I send them? My intrest rate right now is 9.75 and due to increase within 6 months!! |
