Unhappy nightmare with chase

never done this before so bare with me! i had credit issues but was able to obtain a mort.(sallie mae) loan from freemont invest,rate8.25 not great but affordable,sallie mae agent said do not pay off bad debt let it drop(stupid now) loan was supposed to be 3yr fixed went throuh there attorney sign and owned our home great until last october when loan jumped to 10.75 and got sold in the meantime to chase it was sold 6 mos prior to rate increase (sorry) we called chase and they said it was only 2 yr fixed,tried sallie mae closed up so i started calling chase daily about getting rate fixed was paying 1664.00 ins&taxes went to 1938.00 taxes&ins finally got a hold of someone that told me at chase there was a loan mod program if you qualify sent 27 pages via fax and mail in oct 07,when iwould call i would get dropped or the phone would go busy,mind you i was making my pmts and not late (yet) im 50 yrs old and had a stroke my insurance is vetrans care all i have they scheduled me for bypass surgery i contacted chase to tell them i may get behind but will catch it up as soon as possible the response was chilling quote= want do you want us to do mr---- tell you not to pay because you need surgery! still have not had my surgery in april on the4th i got a fed ex from chase at 4:40 pm opened it loan modifacation rate 5.0 for 2 yr then 6.25 for 27 yrs had to be back no later than 4/7/08 that is a monday to california from nc they sent envelope fedex we went to our bank signed notorized friday morning took it to fed ex they said envelope would not make it on time the envelope chase sent so we paid approx $36.00 and sent it on time.i contacted chas e as i owed a pmt and another coming close they said loan is being modified pmts alredy figure in the mod aggreement just make the new pmt 5/1/08 done now i recived letters that demends full pmt of loan when i call collections they tell me that is standard dont worry about them just make you new pmts on time who do i call? am i going to loose my house? they tell me mod is approved and i dont owe the two pmts but who do i trust my gut says im getting ready to loose it all am i wrong? advice please i am working and still refuse to have surgery untill this is fixed my doctor said i have till august 08 to decide or my artories will not hold the bypass could loose 1 or both legs if i wait any longer and people if you smoke please quit this is the end result at 50 yrs old thanks in advance for any help (rick)

Good Morning Rick,

Hang in there partner. I know this has to be an extremely stressful time for you, but you've got to keep your head up. There are so many people here on this forum that have multitudes of useful information. Please get that surgery scheduled, as your health is always more important than anything else.

hi thanks for trying to help icalled the number you gave me and spoke to someone he said he shows i needed to make a down pmt on the computer but the paper work sent does not show this,he also said it would not make sense as the whole principal bal was in the mod and that people owing 6-8 mos are asked to make a good faith down pmt but as a rule only 2 pmts but again that was verbal and i like letters,also when they give the new pmt amount it does not include your escrow due.
