I followed your advice about emailing all the people at Countrywide that you provided and this is my story: My husband and I have been attempting to get a partial claim hardship through the HOPE department for our mortgage since March 1, 2008. I was laid off January 31, 2008 and called Countrywide Customer Service on February 3, 2008 to explain the situation and request advice regarding our inability to pay our March payment. We paid our February payment on February 3, 2008 with my final paycheck. We were told to call back at the beginning of March. At that time we were told to send a hardship request letter. I mailed that on March 10, 2008. Our financials were also taken via the phone at that time showing approximately $200.00-$300.00 left over each month after paying our bills excluding the mortgage payment. We started calling every week to check on the status and every week we got a different Customer Service representative who gave us conflicting stories as to the status. Again on April 14, 2008, I was requested to fax my hardship letter and bank statements showing deposits. I called a few days later to confirm receipt of the letter and was told that Countrywide had received it. I called on April 22, 2008 and spoke with Charles to find out the status. He explained the process as the letter would be assigned to a negotiator within 10-15 days from receipt, the negotiator would contact us for any additional information needed to process the request, then the negotiator would present the request and information to the investors within 10-15 days for their final decision. As of May 9, 2008, we have heard from no one. We continue to call only to be directed to the collection department each time. Those calls have gone to India and stateside and again we are getting conflicting stories as to the status with a different answer for each call. The reason we requested a partial claim hardship is due to our mortgage being an FHA loan. We were told that we did not qualify for a forbearance or a loan modification because of the FHA mortgage. We have also contacted our Realtor who tells us that our house would not sell for more than the balance owed. I am still unemployed as of May 9, 2008 with no solid prospects. We don’t know where to turn at this point. We don’t want to LOSE OUR HOME and feel that we have done everything asked of us by Countrywide with no resolution. I found a website called Loan Safe where numerous people had written in having the same or similar issues with Countrywide. They advised a number of people to send emails to Countrywide and include a copy of the hardship letter along with the problems they had encountered. That is where I am today and hope through these emails that we get the answers we are desperately seeking. I received an email from Sarah Perek the same day that I sent all the emails. Today I received a phone call from Casey Miller in the President's office telling me that she was going to have a negotiator contact me within 2 days time. She was very nice and very helpful. She also gave me her direct phone number in case I did not hear from the negotiator. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the info you provided on this site. We are desperate to save our home and I finally feel that things will start happening now. Your site is a Godsend for those of us that are extremely frustrated. I would advise anyone to follow your instructions for emailing. It certainly worked fast for us. Thank you again so much. Vicki Elix |
