Are you guys already behind on your payments? Was your original mortgage with them, or did you just become a customer after the refinance? What number did you call? The direct number for the Loss Mitigation department is 800-340-7505. When we called them, we were told that they are offering a 6 month hardship. (Of course, we have yet to hear from them about that assistance...) But, if you didn't speak to the Loss Mitigation directly, I would definitely call again. There are great people on this site who will ask you more pertinent questions and give you more advice, so don't worry. Good Luck, Elizabeth |

It sounds like you are speaking with a low level collections employee and not a loss mitigation specialist. You need to get pass this guy and try and speak with loss mitigation so you can apply for a loan modification. What is your income at the current time?

They said for the 6 month hardship, all they can do is lower the interest rate. After that, if you are even late on a regular payment you're out of gas. Meanwhile, waiting to be qualified, you have to make up all late payments, etc that are already due. Doesnt sound like they care about anything but taking the house |

| Re: Household Finance Household Finance is just that a Finance company and really bunch of goons and leg breakers.....so know the situation that you deal with. The interest rate is horrible, the customer service is horrible and the product you got is horrible. Having said all of that you need to contact HOPE 888.995.HOPE or ACORN www.acorn.org. They can to some degree assist and intervene, but the final analysis is that you need to get out of this loan and into something that is manageable, however if you are delinquent on this loan or have been delinquent in the prior 12 months that will be difficult. Please, please contact HOPE, do not contact the local HFC office they are not nice people and if you can out of this loan, the faster the better. This is predatory lending at it's finest....no lie. Please contact the agencies that I have recommended, what state are you in? |

They told me not to send HFC another dime and they could work with them. But HFC and HSBC are two they dont have luck with. Also, they said they may get it so we dont have to make payments for the next 3 months. BUT, the catch is, meanwhile you must save 2500.00 at the least for thier services. I told them I couldnt afford 2500.00 and they never returned my calls after that. |

They are a non profit agency, they take your information over the phone, and the number is....... 1-888-995-HOPE I know for a fact there is a company out there that is similar in name trying to scam people that are trying to get a hold of HOPE.....which is outright awful..... Call the number above to get a HOPE representative....

You are at 50% debt to income just with your mortgage and if you have a car etc... then it is going to be difficult to keep this up. What is your rate? and did you call 888-995-HOPE and they told you this?

| Re: Household Finance If that is the case are they going to assist you with the intervention in the Short Sale process? You are going to need to find a real estate agent that is experienced in this process, so that is sometimes difficult and hard to manage, let alone find one that is. Do you have resources that will allow you do find an agent with this experience or is HOPE going to assist in this matter? |

| Re: Household Finance You need to find a real estate agent that is experienced in the Short Sale process, and you need to call HOPE back, this is not the kind of service or assistance that I would expect from them. They usually assign a counselor to assist you and to help in the process of figuring out the budget and the income to determine the overall viability of the situation. This is rather abrupt and I question if you have gotten the most of the assistance that they can offer. Have you tried ACORN yet? They are certainly a viable resource as well. Meanwhile you need to locate a reputable real estate agent to assist you with a short sale and request a short sale package from HFC. |

| Re: Household Finance One of the first places I would try if you are in that state is NACA, they have some great attorney's there. The tactics that HFC are using would interest them greatly. I am sorry that HOPE was not helpful, sometimes they are sometimes not.... NACA www.naca.net that is for starters, unfortunently the State of Florida is promoting HOPE for the distressed homeowner, and there appears to be no other link in your state to other agencies. Try ACORN too. Then get a hold of NACA and see if they have some ideas. |
