Our DTI is 45% This was back in March, filled out all the required online information, waited, and finally got a letter in the mail. Never heard from a loan counselor, or anyone. Finally we called and customer service checked the notes on our account, they told us to speed up things we could fax all of the required information (w2's, 1040's, etc.) Then to call in 10 days, to check the status. So we faxed the information, and waited, and waited. 10 days later we called and got the response "I don't know why you are calling." Explained why we were, and asked to speak with our loan counselor, and were told that she was "busy" and not taking any calls. Waited a couple days called back and were told the same thing that she was busy, and she would call us. We have never received a call or any further information from Suntrust. Finally we called and were told that we were denied, no further information other than we would receive a letter. Weeks later nothing. Decided to call back, as we were going to miss our first payment since having the loan in 2007. They were very rude, and could give us no reasoning for us not receiving a reason for our denial, and why we have not gotten any correspondence over the whole time this has been going on. Had we not called, we wouldn't have been told we were denied, nor would we have even known what information to send them to get things going. Luckily I found this site, and searched for Suntrust; only to see that many others were getting the run around. Finally we decided 2 days ago to call 995-HOPE, and speak to a counselor. She was very helpful, and took her required information. She told us she would send the packet to Suntrust with her recommendations, and to call Suntrust in 10 days. Hopefully things we will going to get better soon, but for now all we can do is sit and wait. |

The trouble with that is according our Gross income we make "enough" to make the payment. With our net income we are at 46%, but i know that MHA does not go by that. Probably why we were denied in the first place. She is also trying to get them to defer the late payment before it goes delinquent. Another interesting thing that I am trying to figure out, is that she suggested i quit my job. Its not a great paying job anyways, nor is it consistent. Recently I have had checks from 128 dollars all the way to 500 in the past 2 months. We get sent home if we run out of work, and with me being limited by having to watch my children (we have a 3 month old and a 4 year old) I cannot stay past what i am scheduled. We tried the daycare thing, but it is just not worth it, I was basically working to pay for the daycare, so Its not feasible. Basically, with the money that I would save on gas, and insurance for my car, Would take care of about 1/2 of my check, then she suggested trying to get food stamps, and using other resources out there to get help with other bills. (heating, electric, trash) Along with the Food Banks, and WIC, and United way, etc. Im really not sure how to feel about this. I have always worked for everything that I have, and I don't want to have to go this route, but in order to qualify for alot of those programs, i would have to NOT work.. Plus I don't understand how I could get these programs, without working. Its really confusing. It seems that we are in a catch 22, but If i can get the loan modification, than we shouldn't have to use programs, that people who are in much more serious predicaments than we are need. 7 or 8 more days! It cannot come fast enough. Any suggestions, advice that anyone has, I would LOVE to hear. |

Is she saying that your public assistance income would be more than your job? I would look into this. What state do you live in? If this is true, would give you more time to look for a better job or get training for something new. Don't take it, if they are rude ask for a supervisor. For all the complaints I have, most everyone has been proffesional, except for one lady Barbara who was down right nasty. I am thinking of writing a letter. She said stuff like "We know how to do our jobs" and refused to confirm the numbers yet insisted they were were right. Well clearly you don't know how to do your job because what you were saying was dead wrong in regards to the MHA. Personally, I would call sooner for an update. I doubt you would get through to a counselor, but the customer service people can give you an update. But that is just me, and not sure if it is the right way to approach it for everyone.

Assistant. We had already had our first at the time, We are both very young still. I am 24, shes 25. We decided whoever found the best job first would work, and the other would stay home with the kids and work where we were until she started school. Well with the addition of the new child, that kept me at home. Basically, yes though, she was saying that It would do us better for me to quit my job since we could get more money than i was making through public assistance. Retail sucks, I have been there 6 years and barely make 9.00 hr. my wife with her income, she could potentially make a modified house payment by herself, along with our other obligations. If i were to quit my job, and sell my car, that would relieve the other debt we have incurred. She has a school loan, along with another loan and credit card we used to make home improvements when we bought the house. We live in Michigan, so I am sure that I am going to have a hard time no matter what I do. Currently, I am lucky to bring home between, 600 - 900 /month |
