Aurora continues to blame the delays on Fannie Mae, yet other places I am reading in the news that the blame is not on the investor but on the servicer. |

I was called by ALS on 7/15 and told that my mod was approved and my new loan docs would be put in the mail that day... Now it is almost 3 weeks later and I still haven't received my loan docs. But over this last weekend I did receive a letter from ALS stating that I had not paid my payment due 8/1, which of course is not correct. So I tried not to totally work myself up but of course by Monday morning I had just been thinking about all the horrible things can happen because according to this letter my 8/1, final trial payment, is now late... So I called the number on the letter it was 550 number... I talked to some lady that just kept telling me that I had to pay the August payment and that my trial had been extended. I was p/o'd I asked her why they called me on 7/15 and told me I was approved and the paperwork was in the mail... It was by far the worst experience I have had with an Aurora rep. I asked to speak to her supervisor because she wasn't making any sense... Left a message for him or her yesterday morning and of course still have not heard back... So yesterday afternoon I decided to try the number that they gave me to call when I was told I was approved, afterall I had called that number 4 times since 7/15 to find out why my "paperwork" that was mailed out on 7/15 had not yet arrived. I decided to take a different approach, just be super nice and explain my situation as calmly as possible... I'd say this approach worked for me.... The customer service rep, Bertha said she is going to follow my account and see how this all works out. She took down my number and said she would call me back around 8/15 to get an update from me. But on the bright side, she called underwriting and called me back about an hour later to tell me that my docs have been ordered and whatever happens I just need to keep making my payment until my new loan docs arrive... I guess I feel better... They are just so backed up... Why did they tell me that they were sending my loan docs on 7/15 when in reality they have not yet sent them? I have no clue... My advice is just keep calling until you get someone that is helpful... |

I did call again the other day, asked for help in expediting it since we were never behind going into the mod and have completed 3 payments. They did give me a fax number (the main one you sent all the docs to originally) and asked that I state the reason for needing things rushed. In our case the second has indicated they would be willing to modify on the HAMP program as long as the first does and before the 180 days that they will charge off. We are quickly approaching that time. Hopefully we get approved and then I can start posting some information about how we dealt with the second (assuming we get somewhere on it). |

UPDATE - Called Aurora the other day, asked why when we were current and applied for help on Feb. 26th are we still in the process/review stage. We were put on a 4 payment trial instead of a 3 payment trial. They instructed me to fax a letter explaining this and how our second is in a holding pattern waiting for approval on the mod. I faxed them the letter and they stated it went to the underwriter (seems to be a common statement for everything). Getting a bit frustrated, as it seems like being current on the loan appears to have been a delay for us. Starting to suspect that there is less reason to move quickly on a current mod than one that was in default. Hopefully we can have some good news soon; however, if our second charges off there is no interest in us keeping the home at that point. Collection agency on our back and lien still on property would simply result in us walking away and filing BK. |

Because Aurora didn't start taking apps for that until April, so that may be a part of why it is taking so long... I also did a 4 payment trial period and was notified that they extended the trial in case they don't get me the docs in time for my 9/1 payment... I really don't know what you can do to speed things along:-( My only advice as I said before is call and be nice, instead of getting angry about the situation it is better to talk to the people from Aurora like they are on your side. I was also not behind on my mortgage when I went into the loan mod and I don't have a 2nd. I wonder if the 2nd could be holding things up on your approval? I really have no clue, just a thought... |

They still haven't come and they are saying they are extending my trial period 2 more months just in case I don't get my docs before my 9/1 payment date, but they say hopefully they will come soon... But they can't say, just that they are ordered, whatever that means. So I guess I am approved... But until my docs are in my hands I won't feel 100% better. |

The stats from Treasury last week showed Aurora has begun more trial payments by % than 12 of the top 15 banks. They had over 80,000 loans eligible and over 20,000 trial mods were started; so I would suggest people doing trial payments be patient. Is it possible Aurora turns around and scams everyone? Of course it is; but it's also very doubtful because the banks getting TARP money now have to show accountability. Those trying for mods now are lucky because the vast majority from 2008 have already lost their home because there was no plan to help anyone. I got modified by Aurora cause I live in New York and foreclosure takes 12 months before they start the process. Took me over a year to finally get mod finalized so it's much better with new plan in place. I was told late January they were sending loan docs and didn't receive until March. I was convinced it was all bs. And then I paid a 4th trial payment instead of just 3 as outlined in docs. But now the mod is totally finalized for 2 months and everything is all set. So I would strongly suggest folks here stay patient--Aurora has over 20,000 borrowers doing trial payments and they are not going to hire thouands or they'd lose all their incentive money to wages; so there will be delays and mistakes and clueless people on the phone. But the underwriters will modify those who comply. I was completely sure Aurora was lieing throughout and would take my home--I was completely wrong and Aurora fully complied and modified. Hang in there sval and auroraproblem and others and you'll also get modified |
