When dealing with all these letters and correspondence, I'm wondering, is there a difference between a "hardship letter" and a "request for a loan modification"? The reason I ask is, I found a "hardship letter" in my closing docs and it said HARDSHIP LETTER in big bold letters at the top. The letter says that our first payment was due less than 30 days from our closing and that it was NOT a hardship for us to pay on that date. I'm wondering, since I didn't put "hardship letter" at the top of my loan mod request, would they say "we never received a hardship letter from you?" |

The "hardship letter" in the closing docs should not have any bearing on your current situation, and you can submit a "new" hardship letter, QWR request, etc...it is just one of the many growing standard docs in the closing settlement package |

| Re: A question on terminology The hardship letter in the closing documents is a Lender get around the net tangible benefit stuff and disclosure to the borrower to state that you are aware that this is a mortgage credit they are granting and that you state that there will be no hardship with this new credit and understand, this, that and everything else....it is a garbage doc. Has nothing to do with the documents and letters that you are providing today for today's situation and really was meaningless at closing.... |
