I am very frustrated. I know this is a do it yourself forum but I look at the website and see that many are having the same problems as I am. What I am wondering is is it that the problems are just in the beginning or are they continuous. Is there sucess and light at the end of the tunnel. WHat are my chances of succeeding at doing it myself. On the other hand, we are also researching companies to do the loan modification for us. I know many of the attorney generals are going after loan modification companies. If we hire one we would like one who is actually going to do the job. I have called the attorney general's office, researched online complaints and others. I still do not feel compfortable in just going with a company off the internet, radio or newspaper. Yesterday I spoke with a company. They do not do loan modifications. They were very helpful and informative and offered to recommend a company in my area for free. They say they have researched companies they refer to make sure none are being investigated. Has anyone used a service like this before and what was your experience? I am open to ideas for persevering and doing it myself. Sherri |

I know its difficult and stressful and and causes enormous anxiety. If I could afford a mod center or lawyer I could afford my mortgage. I have a friend who did use a center and got screwed so to speak. One thing she did learn is that companies need to be certified in order to charge you a fee upfront. I am not sure what state you are in, we are in California. Here is a link to the Dept. of Real Estate and their info about mod services. Perhaps your state has something similiar.
