HELP! Received Foreclosure Papers Yesterday

I haven't been able to make my mortgage payments since July of last year. I have tried several times to talk to CitiMortgage about some kind of arrangement but all they would say is that I need to make a higher payment. My husband finally found a part-time job that will just cover the mortgage so I then submitted a loan mod form online with Citi at the beginning of March. Yesterday I was served with foreclosure papers. What do I do now? I can't get anyone on the phone on Sunday at Citi. Do I try to call them tomorrow? Is it too late, do I now need an attorney? I don't have a lot of money to just throw around so I need to do the right thing first. I don't want to loose my home. It's all I have left. Please Help.
Marion

Welcome to the forum Marion!

We are here for you and we don't want you to lose your home either. The best thing you can do is email and call every day until you get help. Also study your states laws to see exactly how much more time you have once foreclosure papers are served.

This wasn't a notice of trustee sale, was it?

Please try this email and contact information. They set it up for homeowners visiting LoanSafe.org and it is all encompassing for Citi Mortgage products, as Citi Financial and Citi Mortgage are now one in the same.

Marion,
Glad you found the forum and posted.

Yes, contact Citi tomorrow.

Right now, you should visit the NACA website and start the process with them. They are a free(ignore the 50 dollar charge and volunteer requirement-they have been put aside for months but the site is not been updated) homeowners advocacy group that is HUD approaved.

There is a section for homeowners who are also in imminent danger of foreclosure :https://www.naca.com/refinance/refinanceSubmission.jsp

If you are not near an office for NACA, they will do the consultations over the phone at a scheduled time also.
