Short Sale

Honestly what will a short sale do to my credit. I have read so many different ideas. I know its better than having a foreclosure, but when will I recover? 2 yrs? 10 yrs? Right now my credit score is around 770. I have worked hard to get there and now im stuck in a house thats worth a 1/3 of what I paid for it. Its starting to get very frustrating.
