    Buyers and Sellers talking directly...

I am 90% through my short sale and have hit a road block with the second (not surprising). We are down to a minimal negotiation amount and need to find out if the sellers are willing to contribute an extra $2K to finalize negotiations with the second. Both my agent and the buyer's agent are adamantly against the buyer and me talking directly. I have formally requested and believe this is actually required by law in my state (FL). Any experience or knowledge whether this is against the law in FL or against the Realtors' "code of ethics"?
    Thanks!

    Hello yota01,

I'm not positive if this is against the law or not in FL, but your realtors should have no problem with you talking to the seller or at least passing this information along for you. Have you told your agent the reason you want to speak with the seller is to see if they can come up with an extra 2k?
    Keep Fighting!

I am a realtor in PA and I had a deal fall apart over the same thing. But it was the first who would not give the second the extra 2500 they wanted.

Now I highly doubt it is against state law, although I don't know what the law is there, but I have had occassions where the buyers and sellers wanted to talk and although I understand why your realtors are against it, I would just keep pushing until you win. Let me tell you the banks are not going to budge and everyone is going to lose. As a realtor I am sick of being asked to give up my salary to make a deal work. I say the buyer should come up with the extra money but in the case of my deal they didn't and the deal died. Not to say it wouldn't have died anyway as it is obvious that the banks do not want to cooperate.

As far as the meeting, JUST INSIST. You have every right to request this and if your instincts tell you it will work, maybe you are right.

I have had occassions where my buyers wanted to meet with the sellers, and I was worried, but I felt it was their right and so we all met. the deal went through. Again, its your house, your sale your right.
