A leading British climate scientist has come under pressure to resign over a series of leaked e-mails, which global warming sceptics say point to a mass conspiracy.
The scandal erupted after a research server was hacked into, and private e-mails and documents were released, suggesting that scientists may have colluded to prevent the release of climate data.

Green scandals in U.K., California, same media reaction - America's Finest - SignOnSanDiego.com

About a week ago, two seemingly unrelated scandals broke in California and the United Kingdom.
Here, Dr. John Telles, a respected member of the California Air Resources Board, called for an internal investigation and implied heads should role because air board chief Mary Nichols failed to inform board members that the lead author of costly, sweeping, controversial new rules on diesel emissions had lied about his academic credentials and had only a mail-order Ph.D. before members voted to adopt the rules last December. Telles called the cover-up of this “fraud” an “incredible” mistake.

Mark Steyn: Cooking the books on climate | peer, reviewed, climate - Opinion - The Orange County RegisterSo, where does this leave Al Gore? He's got his hands all over this leafy Ponzi scheme and he stands to make butt-loads of money off propagated fear. Something tells me he won't be discussing these e-mails in
"Hopenhagen," because as long as the sky keeps falling, his bank account keeps rising.
And if you disagree with me, then you sir are a racist.
Climategate: the whitewash begins – Telegraph BlogsThe e-mails of "Andy" (as his CRU chums fondly know him) are especially pitiful. Confronted by serious questions from Stephen McIntyre, the dogged Ontario retiree whose "Climate Audit" Web site exposed the fraud of Dr. Mann's global-warming "hockey stick" graph, "Andy" writes to Dr.
Mann to say not to worry, he's going to "cover" the story from a more oblique angle:
"I'm going to blog on this as it relates to the value of the peer review process and not on the merits of the mcintyre et al attacks.
"peer review, for all its imperfections, is where the herky-jerky process of knowledge building happens, would you agree?"
And, amazingly, Dr. Mann does!
"Re, your point at the end – you've taken the words out of my mouth."
Breaking news from the splendid Bishop Hill. It seems the AGW establishment has launched an urgent damage limitation exercise in order to whitewash the Climategate scandal in time for Copenhagen.
Here’s the (so far unconfirmed) story:1) Lord Rees (Royal Society) to be asked by UEA to investigate CRU leak. The appointment of Lord Rees, if confirmed, is especially worrying. It’s the rough equivalent of appointing King Herod’s grand vizier to investigate a mysterious outbreak of mass baby killing in Judaea.
2) Foreign Office and government leaning heavily on UEA to keep a lid on everything lest it destabilises Copenhagen.
3) CRU asked to prepare data for a pre-emptive release in past couple of days but trouble reconciling issues between data bases has stopped this.
