I am writing for a friend who is having an impossible time with American Home Mortgage Servicing. She lives in Michigan and went through a foreclosure with Option One. She is now in her redemption period and has most of the money to get her home back. The problem is that she cannot get anyone at AHMSI to respond to her. When she calls the numbers on their web site, she gets someone in India. They have essentially refused to deal with her and each time she calls back, they claim they have never talked with her before. She has written letters and receives no response. Her redemption period runs out in February and it appears to me that they are attempting to avoid her redemption so they can sell her home for more than she owes.

I have done some web searches and it appears to me that this is an extremely dubious company, funded largely by W. L. Ross, an arbitrage billionaire in New York whose web site contains nothing more than an address and phone number. I also see that AHMSI is currently being sued in Massachusetss for consumer fraud and deceptive lending practices. I am a retired fraud investigator in Oregon and before I tell my friend to file a complaint in Michigan, I would like to know if someone has a phone number we can call that is actually in the United States so that we can talk to someone who speaks clear English.

The best contacts, as you will notice if you look through the forum, are Jim Davis and Jeanne Drake. I faxed all of my loan modification information into Jeanne Drake and the following day received a phone call. I believe Jeanne is the VP of Loss Mitigation. I too was having a horrible experience with different people in the call center and after reading all of the posts I decided to contact her myself. Thankfully an experienced negotiator called me back right away and I am now on my way to a modification. Good Luck!
