Did you get a mod while current?

A colleague today mentioned that he's in the midst of attempting a mod (not with AHMSI) but that you're considered "low priority" unless you've missed a payment. He's considering skipping his October payment to get their attention.

I'm current, and would like to get a mod before I'm in over my head and CAN'T stay current, but wondering if I won't even be looked at unless I miss a payment?

Curious how many have gotten mods while current, even more specifically with the HAMP program?

Re: Did you get a mod while current?

For two years most everyone who was current and attempted to get a loan modification were deniied at least 99% of the time.

Now with the MHA Obama program that is supposed to help those that are not late, that rate has gone down to probably 95% or so. With that said, evidence on this forum suggests that being late seems to be the best way to get help and even those that are late have tough times.

The reoccurring trait in all members on LoanSafe.org who get loan mods are will, tenacity and persistence.

If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take from the time you faxed your paperwork (if that's the route you took) to get your stuff a few days ago? Also, did you do Obama's HAMP program?

Once I got a neg on my case. It took like 3 weeks to complete. I did however send Mrs Drake an email asking if I could get someone to look at my case. I didn't qualify for the HAMP but got there loan mod insteed. My interest is 2% for the first 3 yrs and 5.05% for the remaining of the loan. To me, they seem to got there stuff inorder now. However I started all this back in March 09. Those months were hell to deal with them. But like I stated, one I contacted Mrs Drake everything went smooth for me. I could send her an email and she have someone on it with a hr or so. I will say if you get a neg name Luis. He's real great to work with and treats nice

Please excuse my question, but what was your hardship? I was denied due to lack of a permanent hardship. I was current on my loan, and I think (based on my own experience and reading other people's threads) that the bank (CHASE) seems to think that since you are making your mortgage payment, albeit sacrificing everything to do so, you are still paying them so you do not need a modification.

well my income changed a few times within the yr and explained how I used my bank overdraft from times to cover the payment on time. Mine was really based on my income and how much little was left each month. However since I get paid per diem, They couldn't use that $$ which helped and hurt me to get a normal refin alone. I have a ballon payment now, Which is still ok, because it made my monthly payment even lower than I had plan on it to be. If u can, send Mr Drake an email and ask if Luis Trejo can be asgined to it. He was great for my loan mod
