    Ocwen at NACA San Diego

I'm trying to help my mother-in-law get a modification to get out of her adjustable rate mortgage. She has at least 21pct equity so a standard refinance is possible but we want to avoid adding people to the loan, and a modification is the best way. She is current, but will qualify as imminent default by the standard metrics.

We went to the NACA event in San Diego and met with Ocwen reps. The guy was very friendly and seemed to be helpful. He took all of our information and even gave us a direct contact to their office in Florida.

    HOWEVER....

A week later we got an email request for most of the same documents that were already in the package NACA had scanned in for us. Worse, the phone number did not work and I'm worried I'll have to contact India...

Has anyone been able to contact Ocwen in Florida?

    We were given:
    Seth Cooper
mod@ocwen.com (put loan number in subject)
    866-454-0972 phone
    407-737-6174 fax
    M-F 5:30am-2:30pm PST

Turns out this is for some VA center.

I put this here since I was not able to find a forum dedicated to Ocwen issues...

This is extremely common in the loan modification process.. Homeowners will almost always be required to send in the same information over and over again as these lenders are very overwhelmed with defaulted loans and often lose/mix-up paperwork.. Here are a bunch of good contacts you can use to help your mother get her account escalated and assigned to a rep for review..

Hi Evan - thanks so much for the list of contacts, it really helped.

As soon as I sent a reply with everyone listed, the Ombudsman replied and Seth called! Turns out we were given the wrong number at the NACA event. It should have been 877...

We sent in all the requested documentation and got an email confirmation that it was all received. We should know in a week or two if they will make a modification and what it will entail. I'm expecting a balloon payment so hopefully it is far enough away to make it worthwhile. I'd prefer a higher payment for more months since interest rates will likely be higher then.

P.S. I'm going through my own short sale now, but if we have to refi my mother-in-law's place with me on the loan (to show sufficient income and get the better interest rate) my credit score can start re-building faster...BUT, if I'm on the loan with my mother-in-law, will this actually hurt or help me later buy my own place? Any thoughts?

Remember if you are on the loan, and later a loan mod is not possible and your mother in law can no longer afford the payments, you will also be held fully responsible for the mortgage and will endure the negative impact of a foreclosure/short sale.. If she needs to prove more income she can say one of her rooms is being rented out for x amount..

I am having issues with OCWEN they offered us a loan modification and we faxed it to a fax number in Florida. However, when we called they had not received the fax and now we have to pay a higher payment, since we can't relax the information with the due date passed. We asked to speak to a supervisor, but they told us they were busy and will call back in 24-48 hrs. Of course, they did not call back. We are trying to find a number of someone to see if we can get this resolved. When we call the customer service number they are in India and will not give any information out to contact the loan modification department. They told us tonight that there is an email address, but they are not allowed to give it out. Can anyone give us some help, please?

What city do you reside in? I would suggest that you visit www.naca.com to see where upcoming events are? I do not have a direct contact number available but if you attend the event and go through the process you will be able to speak with the servicer.

Welcome to the forum and thank you for joining.........

    Any issues that you are having with Ocwen can be escalated to the Ombudsman;

If the customer care was not able to resolve your questions you may want to try contacting the Ombudsman at Ocwen instead.

You may contact the Ocwen Consumer Ombudsman a variety of ways as provided below:
