I just want to share my experience for NACA convention held here in Sacramento (still ongoing until the 11th).
I never heard about NACA until Thursday afternoon from the email forwarded at my work place. Just in time since Friday is the first day of the event and I’m off from work. That night I browsed the NACA website, read feedbacks from forums, and immediately prepared my documents . By 7am, Friday, I was on line and probably 4,000+ were already ahead of me. The line was very loooong and got done by 3pm for the orientation (booklet+ticket). They said that we can go home and wait for any text or email when to go come back for the meeting with counselor.
We received text around 7:15pm to go back by 8pm. We went there and was surprised that 8pm is not real time to meet with the counselor. We met with the counselor over the phone, the following day, Saturday at 3:30pm. Very frustrating but still hopeful that this will help us keep our home. My husband and I we’re not ready to campout with only jacket and water bottles to keep us. Imagine camping unprepared from 8pm-3:30pm of next day.... 19hrs!
The event is very encouraging.. specially to see that too many people are on the same boat that you are riding. Looks like the saying “misery loves company” proves to be true on my case. lol
We are hopeful with all the successful experience from other homeowners. My only negative feedback is.. I hope they made it more organize and avoided the very looooong waiting time.
Anyway, I didn’t have success story to tell.. because we are not qualified to get help as of the moment. I’m employed while hubby is unemployed but no more unemployment money coming. We have 2nd home that is on hot oven listed for shortsale and soon to be on foreclosure if nobody will qualified to buy. Our primary home is under hubby's and 2nd home is only under mine. The counselor said that we cannot get help for now cause we fall on having multiple properties, even the primary home we want to keep is only under separate name, I’m part of his household and I should be owning other property. This property is showing on my credit report as outstanding payable.
Okay, sorry for my long story.. I believe that NACA can truly help one that is truly on distress. So me and my hubby will seek for their help if he can’t still find job and WF is done with the transfer of property to their care.
