Re: Questions and Confusion/NACA

Who was it that told you all these (personal) things? Bank of America? Is that supposed to be some kind of bizarre intimidation? Bras and underwear? You could tell them you don't wear 'em anymore and you are thinking about just ditching clothes too - it is summertime. That might shut them up too.
The attorneys for BofA, Shapiro & Burson, from Virginia Beach spent $24.00 in postage to send notices that all said the same thing about something we already knew. Brilliant. They should be proud of themselves.
You are right, Sarge. This whole mess is one hand not knowing what the other is doing. Quality control is apparently obsolete now.
I guess they (the lawyers) don't care that they look like jackasses.

Re: Questions and Confusion/NACA

Ramen, 10 for 10 = $1 mixed with some cans of spam, double cheeseburgers for $.99 cents and walla, you're eating processed crap. And people wonder why health care is an issue???

For a single person to eat healthy, it would be minimum $100 a week.

That has always been an issue for me and feeding my 5 kids. Eating healthy sometimes just was not an option. It came down to days where it was just anything would do.

Hey can't even qualify for food stamps here in Michigan. Family of 3 and since I am working still we are just barely over the limit of income allowed, it sure would have helped if we could have qualified. We don't know what it is to eat really healthy anymore. With husband being a diabetic we should be very careful what we eat, but since we just don't have the money right now we do best we can. Hate grocery shopping anymore. I do find that you can save a bundle by buying mostly store brands. One store here has a lot of 10 for $10 sales and you can mix and match. We try to get by on just about a $120 per week. Not easy when you are trying to feed a very hungry all of the time 14 year old boy!LOL

Re: Questions and Confusion/NACA

I hear you dthom. We live in Virginia and were on food stamps for about three months last fall to early winter this year. Then they decided that we had too much income coming in to qualify (we are on a very small fixed income). We got a letter that they were discontinuing it. Oh, but, we can appeal the decision. Of course, our chances of winning an appeal is as likely as winning the Mega Millions lottery.

I use Angel Food Ministries and was able to cut my food bill by more than half..............you do not need to qualify or make below a certain amount.........and the choices are great, the initial box is just $30 and there is enough food in each to feed a family of four for a week, and you can order as many as you want............there are also add on packages for grilling, seafood, and veggies that range from $20-$35..............there are host sites in many areas with new ones being added................

dthom..........if you are spending $120 per week on food............this would save you quite a bit of money in a month and they have meals that are sold in a 10 pack that would be perfect portions for a diabetic or someone with dietary restrictions including an allergen free box, that are $28 for the 10 meals..............there are alot of locations in Michigan so the chances may be good that you have a host site nearby.....................

Here is the link for everyone to look over............

***,

I just checked it out for my mom who is a widow on a very limited income. The closest church to my area is about 22 miles away...but I would go and pick it for my Mom (and who knows...maybe me...after all, things are still going to be tight for awhile even with my loan mod...so every little bit helps!) This could be a godsend for her......

Thanks for the heads up!

Along with *** I can attest Angel food min. has been a godsend. I get both the meals for a week and the 10 portioned meals this lasts about a month i usually add on the fruit/veggie option. It may not be the healthest of foods but it beats ramin noodles and rice. The portioned ready made meals have about 3oz of protein a small dinner or lunch amount. And yes the BOA lady was trying to intimadate me with the clothing questions but i know just how far a dime can go thank you and in michigan its not a slice of cheese I can only imagine what you in cali and florida are going through.

here in Calif. the lenders want to make sure we keep making those payments on our 1/2 million dollar homes now worth a $250,000 caused by the over inflated market for their investors to make money. God knows we better skip buying new bras or shoes to line their pockets. Wouldn't want their investors to not make the returns that should never have been represented to them..........

Re: Questions and Confusion/NACA

Is there some kind of security thing going on in the forum? All of a sudden, the last two times I came in here, I was prompted to enter my ID and password.

I was told by NACA that our package should be ready to submit late on 6/9 or early 6/10. As of today, we are still pending. I tried to call them twice, but, unfortunately, each time something came up and I wasn't able to continue waiting. I did leave messages and also sent an e-mail regarding this but never got responses. They indicated that they will get back to phone messages and e-mails within 24 hours. Nothing yet.

Yes, I do understand that they are overwhelmed. It's okay, I will call again tomorrow and will plan on holding on.......no matter what else comes up.

Sorry, just rambling.

*** - thanks for the info on the Angel Food program.

Bizarre/Threatening Phone Call From BofA Last Night

I will be calling NACA today, but, first wanted to post here first. Last night, around the dinner hour (of course), we received a call from a Rick Starbert of Band of America (calling from a cell phone).
Long story short, he was really rude, and during the conversation called us "stupid" and threatened to go into our bank account and pull out the amount he wanted us to pay. We told him he did not have permission to withdraw anything from our account. He said he will be calling us back tomorrow to find out if we can pay by Monday.
He was also breathing really hard. Probably one of the strangest calls we have gotten in quite a while. This might call for a complaint letter to BofA and I guess this means war with Bank of America?

Sounds like a scam if you ask me! Be very careful with this person if he calls back again!

One little thing we do with all creditors who call now seems to keep things from getting nasty.

Once we pick up the phone and here that it is a creditor or a collection agency we ask them politley to hold on for a second. Then we tap the phone lightly with a hard object to make a clicking sound. Then we come back on and say to the person on the other end that we want to make them aware that we are now recording the conversation! Two things usually happen, first they usually hang up immediately or they suddnely become very nice and professional. Now granted we are not actually recording but they don't know that. I guess if you really wanted to you could set up a recorder and do actual recordings.

Most Creditors and Collection agencys count on the fact that we are ingnorant and do not know what the actual laws are protecting us from these devious attempts to collect a debt. There are very specific laws regarding harrasment and or verbal abuse. Any creditor who does not follow these laws would be at risk for a lawsuit.

Do the recording trick and see how nice these creditors become or how quickly they hang up the phone! Alos if you send them a letter stating they are not to contact you by phone at work or home they must only communicate by mail.

Calling you on a cell phone, being unprofessional and making remarks like this guy did lead me to believe this was some form of a scam artisit or a third party collection agency trying to collect the debt!

Re: Questions and Confusion/NACA

mgallant - Thank you for that information. We thought it was odd that he was calling from a cell phone too. We have never received any calls from Bank of America or Countrywide from cell phones.
Thanks also for the recording trick approach. That's a great idea. If he does call tomorrow, we will use it. Although, he may breathe so hard that he hyperventilates. Do you think we should ask him why is calling from a cell phone?
Another thing that I neglected to mention was a letter we received allegedly from Bank of America. The envelope had no return address - just plain with our names and address. The letter itself also did not have a return address or logo. At the top of the letter was "Unfortunately, you leave us no other alternative." They want $1,053.00 by June 29 or our account will be eligible to be written off as a bad debt. And under that were some impossible options.
Our package with NACA is still pending, so, I am guessing that that is the reason for receiving these letters of doom.
Thanks again mgallant for that very helpful info!

Re: Questions and Confusion/NACA

Once CW/BofA started reporting me in default...the floodgates opened! Started getting lots of junk mail from "loan mod" companies....and received phone calls from people asking me all sorts of questions about my mortgage....i just told the callers that I tape all my phone calls and that I am on the do not call list and if they call me again I will report them, send off a copy of the taped call and they will then receive a substantial fine.

The calls stopped....and the junk mail is finally dwindling. Somebody is making lots of money selling these mailing/phone lists which annoys the heck out of me!!

Re: Questions and Confusion/NACA

Hi
I just wanted to add my 2 cents. NACA screwed us over big time. They sat on our file and took over a month to even submitt it. When they did our budget they told us we qualified then when B of A reviewed it we did not. Turns out that NACA reported that I make twice what I actually do. I get paid every 2 weeks, they recorded my paystubs as 1 weeks pay. (I only wish I made that much!) We were denied a mod and now are pleading withn the bank to work out a payment plan and have had to prove to them that I don't make what NACA said I do. We are trying to work something out with the bank to keep them from foreclosing until we can sell (which in this market may be a while) and actually get what we owe. When I tried to argue the budget with NACA I was told be some rude woman that I should be ashamed that I make this much money and can't pay my mortgage because of my "extravagant" lifstyle. As soon as we can get out of the house we will be moving to the UK to live with my husband's family. That's what NACA has done for me.

Re: Questions and Confusion/NACA

beccaL,
Thats terrible! I'm scared I might get screwed now. Does your stubs not show the hours you work per check? Before they submitted my file the counselor told me I couldn't afford my mortgage, and they will be submitting me for a forebearance. I asked how much income do you have down for me? He said like $2,200/month net and gross was like $3,300. I told him that couldn't be possible cause my husband alone brought home $2,000. So your telling me I only brought home $200? He had to get asisstance from a supervisor then I was submitted for a restructure. I'm hoping I'm asking all the right questions and getting as much details as possible. Sorry that happened to you...

Re: Questions and Confusion/NACA

My checks say they are for like 75-80 hours, but they dont have "pay period" dates so there is no way for me to prove that I didn't work that many hours in one week. I make about $2000 a month, they said I make $4000! Yeah, cause I can totally work 80 hours a week every week! Idiots! I got a letter from my employer stating that I'm paid bi-weekly for BofA in case they want proof. My husband is trying to get a forbearance from BofA to get us current and then we will just beg borrow and steal to pay the mortgage till we can sell and get out of this backward country.
I hope you have better luck than we did, but if it gets top be 120 days and they still have nothing seriously think about other options.
