My husband and I lost our home to forclosure after a job loss and moderate period of unemployment (followed by a pay cut). From the onset of our financial struggles we attempted to work with our mortgage company (Saxon Mrtg - in Texas, I believe) in an effort to keep our family home. At no time during the year-long process of regrouping would Saxon work with us to modify the loan, move payments to the back, ect. After it was obvious we were getting nowhere and forclosure was unavoidable, we left our home and moved to a rental in the same town. It has been just over two years since we moved out of our home. Now, the home we fought so hard to save has been empty for this entire time and has not sold. I do believe the property was transfered to Deutche Bank, but am not sure why. With the housing market being what it is these days, the assessed property value of the home/land has fallen to over $100k less than we paid originally. We would love to reassume our home, but the whole mess left us no other choice than to file a ch 7 BK (so we could not get a loan to save our lives)! My question, ultimately, is "Can we get our house back?" If so, how? All of this talk about what is being done to help people to avoid foreclosure leaves me to wonder if there is something that could help a family that fell on hard times just before the government came to the rescue. Any input would be greatly appreciated ... |
