My attorney was 200.00 down for retainer and If I file ch7 it's around three thousand and if I file 13 it's four thousand but twenty five hundred is due at the filing and the rest comes out of the trustee payments. and if it gets complicated then it's 250.00 and hour. for his service. |

Never have cared for most attorneys [Dad was a Sheriff, so maybe that's why?] I did it very carefully and it was a little scary filing the papers myself and showing up at the creditors meeting alone, but it was all worth it to save so much money! |

You do have to bring paperwork with you, the Trustee mails you a 'have to bring list', like pay stubs, tax return, etc. He asks you questions and if you don't have all the paperwork he extends the date. Funny, he said I didn't mail him a form and when I said I had, he looked through my folder and found it! Most of the time creditors never show, seems to be car dealers and Sears from what I saw, to be the only ones who showed. Good luck to you! |

They just asked the Trustee some questions about the persons debt. I wasn't paying much attention, nervous as hell! But I'm pretty sure the Trustee just placated the rep from Sears. When you sit next to the Trustee, he/she just basically asks you to affirm all the paperwork you already filled out. if there are any discrepancies, you'll get called on it. It lasts just a very short time, just have all your paperwork done right and you'll be out of there in 5 minutes like I was! You just don't want to have a lot of money in your bank accounts after you file, that raises a big red flag! Just like having too many nice cars, antiques, paintings, etc. |

I was planning on withdrawing cash every week out of the checking account anyways. how much are we talking about, a couple thousand in the account? I don't have that much anyway. Maybe I should have a paper check issued instead of direct deposit. What do you think? Do you have to show them your bank statements? I'm going to see an attorney on Monday and he didnt ask me to bring that. |
