    Blogging for extra income?

I thought about blogging for some extra income. I am trying to research this, but feel I may have run into another obstacle!

There is a report that the Federal Trade Commission wants to try to regulate blogging??? (:

Just not sure what all this involves---see link below.

FTC Publishes Final Guides Governing Endorsements, Testimonials

    Thanks for any feedback!

From what I could understand about these guidelines-- it appears the FTC will be targeting the advertisers--rather than the bloggers.

But we never know with the government--- I don't trust the govt these days! Do you blame me?

Any insight as to these guidelines?

    Re: Blogging for extra income?

    Hey there!

I plan to start offering free blogging classes for anyone who wants to learn to start a blog or forum. I am going to be help anyone who is interested in starting an online venture like me.

It is the best thing I have ever done and provides me with a great life style. It was a lot of hard work and I didn't get paid for months, but the patience, hard work and paying it forward has blessed me immensely.

I now work from home with my family and am able to support them also.

Listen, if I can do it, certainly ANYONE can do it

I'd be happy to teach you. Let's do this in the next couple weeks. I would like to get a group of 10 or 20. I have ideas for blogging niches that would make money, they just need someone to carry them out and do the work.

    Re: Blogging for extra income?

It will be 100% online and no BS, snake oil or hidden agendas. Look at my style everyone. It is simple and I''l teach you.

    1. Be honest
    2. Be ethical
    3. Pay it forward
    4. Pick an online niche where you can dominate or compete based on 1-3
    5. Write from your heart and gut after you are educated on what you write about
    6. Give away free information

The hard part is identifying areas online that will not be a waste of time and where your sweat equity will build into solid income later. It may not be your dream topic or drinking wine all day on video , but at least you'll work from home and enjoy the life that affords you. Better than being jobless, powerless or stuck in traffic all day.

Online work is where I found true freedom at.

I'm excited everyone, this really pumps me up.

Count me in. I have designed several websites. Had a small business for over 10 years, created my own website and achieved high search engine ranking (first page of google!) I have an entrepreneurial spirit that has been deflated since I started trying to save my home. I will be happy to share my knowledge with the people here, and I have no doubt I can learn something new that will help me stay at home to make money, instead of relying on corporate america.

Hey, Moe, include me! I already have a lot of domains that I intend to develop into blogs. Have you grabbed your own name to also help with branding?

I may even have learned some techniques that would help others, techniques that I have picked up from the 'gurus'. Have you heard of the term 'sniping'? It is a way to capitalize on organic search, getting free traffic from Google. Are you using that technique?

Selection of the domain name that either has a product name or a phrase that people are searching for that has a chance for you to rank on page 1 is the key from those I'm following. Of course you have to have or find a product to sell that matches the niche. I know of a fair number of the sources for products. It can take time to get approved to access some of the networks and some of the advertisers.

I'm also on Frank Kern's list so I get his free advice on how to avoid problems with the FTC. Lately they and Google came down on the fake review sites and most recently there was the FTC change in requirements for posting any of those 'out of this world' testimonials.

So, although I have not gotten my blogs to the point of paying the bills (too much writing here, not enough time devoted to my own needs), I hope I've been learning the actual facts of this business.

I'd love to compare notes on some of the aspects.

People have already been telling me I should be a writer. I also can learn to do the webmaster tasks. I'm a former software engineer so that helps with some of the skill set and terms. I also have experience with html and some of the scripting languages so that helps with doing the blogging. References to h1 and h2 are not foreign. I have set up websites as part of my former job but those were NOT to SELL product, only to provide information. Since I have also been a landlord/manager for 20 years, there are some aspects of marketing with online sales that only cause me to do a bit of a 'twist' to the thinking cap. The main aspect: I at least was aware that I was marketing a 'product (the apartments)'. I looked at how to 'position' my product compared to the competition.

Here you don't have to maintain the product, just select the right one and the right domain name.

gr8ful - a challenge that can be overcome. I too am on dial-up at home due to cost cutting measures, but can still do many things. That's where we learn to have a dozen browsers and programs open at the same time to make up for loss of speed.
