How are you doing on bandwidth and on VBS Forum config With the increased traffic there have been some time out issues and an ongoing configuration issue which I think is related to the php script. BTW, VBulletin is my favorite board software along with myphp which is free that I use on some of my boards. vBulletin is relatively low cost $180 one-time or $100/yr. Are you getting needed donations? I just sent in a small amount ($20) it is obvious as news of this board for zillions needing mod help that traffic will increase. But you also I assume are getting per click fees on the advertisers. Most of them are not really what we need so maybe if enough people donate you might consider less ads? I note your using Godaddy - I assume their unlimited bandwidth plan (about $14/month). If so it is up to them I assume to balance server loads and give you bandwidth as needed unless there is some provision for extreme bandwidth. Although you don't have lots of pictures and the text and php scripts for V Bulletin are fairly efficient. You are also using an Apache server - could be either their Windows or Linux. Linux usually considered better and Apache server very common and good. Your main IP can not be pinged get timeouts and total packet loss even if use max 30000 ms (30 seconds) but I have concluded this is probably not any problem. You probably don't have the usual default front page on http port 80 but its being redirected I am betting. Even cnn.com has the same issue so you can't directly ping. Up until the last hop I get very fast trace routes to you - but I'm in Phoenix and your godaddy server is located in Scottsdale. Actually my trace route first goes to CA and then hops back to Scottsdale to the last godaddy server I can ping which is before your domain which I can't ping. You do have some configuration problems as I am sure has been pointed out. But I am not a php script or V Bulletin expert to begin to know how to solve. On the things I like the best on vBulletin forums is the quick links to subscribed forums which makes it easier for us frequent posters. Doing that get config error slightly different depending on if I use Firefox (I almost always use) or try using IE. From Quick Links - Subscribed threads Firefox gives 1||1254423119||98.174.229.3||do=viewsubscription&folderid=all||http://www.loansafe.org/forum/usercp.php||Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090824 Firefox/3.5.3 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)Access Denied, you have been logged. IE gives: 1||1254425439||98.174.229.3||vbseourl=subscription .php||||Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; MS-RTC EA 2; MS-RTC LM 8)Access Denied, you have been logged. I have been active on many V Bulletin boards and have never seen it so it must be a config problem on your end. If you use Your Control Panel - Subscription Threads- List Subscriptions I get the same error results. If you go into UserCP you can correctly get to the subscriptions. So the config problem seems to be only from the main forum page. It looks like you have a recent version of VB (3.8.4). Their new version 4 is in early "Alpha" testing. Your 3.8.4 was just released it looks like in August 2009 so you are very up-to-date unlike some sites. I tried to post a question about the subscription error message on the vBulletin Community Forum - Powered by vBulletin vb 3.8 troubleshooting forum but even after I registered since I do not own vb I can not post - special verification needed to be sure you own it, I am familiar with it as user but use myphp for my boards. Just some observations and comments, since so many value your form and for you setting it up. We wish it was less needed and mods were just getting done in line with the HAMP directives! And I bet you never thought it would wind up with so much traffic. Last edited by davephx; 10-01-2009 at 01:15 PM.. |

Sometimes I read after posting and takes more than 5 minutes to find and edit all my errors. Seems 5 min starts when you START the post not when you submit it. Most vb boards allow unlimited editing (only can be done by the original poster) I do not understand the reason for the 5 minutes to edit reason but there may be a good one! Actually my problem is I never learned to type very well - at least that is my excuse for poor spelling and grammer. Or I think so fast my poor typing can't keep up. Reminds me of my favorite saying "Be sure brain is engaged before putting mouth in gear" It may also relate to typing posts. |
