Questions on IP address shown on each posts

Moe,
I hope you don't mind if I make a comment about our IP address showing on each posts. I am really nervous about this. You are exposing us for others to see where we are located and I am afraid criminals might use this information for wrong reasons.

IP address is one of the best technique by FBI's and police and other authorities to pinpoint where the criminals are ie. if a person downloaded a ****ographic and sexual videos, physical harm and thread by criminals, the FBI and other authorities can easily detect and find out where it was downloaded, location etc

For example an actress in Asian country's intimate relationship with her boyfriend who took pictures of them while they were having intimacy. He gave it to his friend and someone got hold of the video and the actress sue everyone's involved, all were denying they downloaded the video. Well the police expert were able to trace it through IP address and they the crooks were caught and now in jail.

IP address is used to catch a crook but it also might be used for other criminal behaviors, like stalking etc. The crooks nowadays can easily access all the information and identity theft is on the rise. By having our IP address shown on each posts, Moe, you are putting our lives and our personal information at risks. Safety and Security is my number one concern. And that my friend why I am making this comment. I don't see any good of it but we are all at risks.

What is an IP address?
Every device connected to the public Internet is assigned a unique number known as an Internet Protocol (IP) address. IP addresses consist of four numbers separated by periods (also called a 'dotted-quad') and look something like 127.0.0.1.

Since these numbers are usually assigned to internet service providers within region-based blocks, an IP address can often be used to identify the region or country from which a computer is connecting to the Internet. An IP address can sometimes be used to show the user's general location.

And this is what I am concern about, I just feel there's something not right about posting such information of another person so "the hackers and crackers can have a field day with your @$$".

It is however NOT good morals/ethics/manners whatever you want to call it, to post someone with their IP address in this forum so others can see it so the malicious hackers can hack you.

It's kind of like saying, I'm sending someone to your home to do you harm. . It seems to me that something like that can't be legal to do, it’s like threatening that you will give some burglar the keys to your home and steal everything from you.

It’s like giving a license to a thief to steal from you. Or give your car keys to a thief and leave them on a table in a restauurant. They arent technically doing anything illegal since they are not personally handing the keys to the thief, they are just 'forgetting' them and leaving them on a table open for anybody to take. Same thing with IP addresses, they are leaving it open on the table, ready for someone to take

I agree with Faith. The IP address is potentially sensitive information and should be kept private. I noticed it showing up on posts a day or two ago.
