GMAC refuses to modify second mortgage without late payments

I have recently had a reduction in hours at work, and I have been coming dangerously close to becoming late on my mortgage payments. I have managed to get my first mortgage modified my ASC, but I am still anxious that any kind of financial emergency could send me into delinquency on my mortgages. GMAC refuses to proceed with any modification on my second mortgage unless I am late on my payments. My understanding of the 'Hope for Homeowners Plan' is that it also specifically excludes second mortgages. Is there any chance of me getting a modification on my second mortgage, or am I out of luck. Do I need to hire an attorney or one of these companies to assist me? Will 'Hope Now' be able to do anything? Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Your seconds investors(the loan that GMAC services) may have different criteria for doing a modification.
I am assuming by "second" you do not mean second property, but second loan on the primary home. You may want to check out the Q&A on the plan here:http://www.financialstability.gov/docs/counselor_qa.pdf
