Credit Cards closing accts b/c WF f'd up!

This is my first post, and its a godsend we can share and help each other - so thank you! I just finished the 3 mo reprieve reduced payment from WF. I received a letter stating I made partial payments and incurring fees. I called in, WF stated to ignore it.

My BofA credit cards are my only hope paying property taxes and now getting married, so charging is the only direction left. Well there was fraudulent activity, they "issued" a new card, didn't come, then they closed both of my accts b/c I am delinquent 3 months with WF!!! Increased my APR to 25% and reduced balance to 4K!

Discover raised the rate to 25% as well! I realize we are powerless, but this is illegal, immoral, and sick! I feel like the moment when the mayor of New Orleans was screaming on the news following Katrina b/c the government wasn't realizing the scope of the damage.

Basically, my situation is if I can get a mod, I can survive. But, I'm going to write, fax, the cc companies, WF, and a letter to editor to newspapers b/c this is plain abusive!

What is the consensus on the payment after the 3 mo trial are most of you paying it? I want to qualify for HAMP and was under the thinking you can't miss a payment???

This happened to us also. We needed our cards when my husband lost his job, and depended on them for living expenses once our saving ran out. When they raised our rates and lowered our limits, we just stopped paying. They made it unaffordable. Our home was our main priority. It's been since June that we haven't paid. We are trying to settle with them, if they don't, we are filing a chapter 13. They will not budge, they don't care who we are, who we complain to, all they want is their money. They don't care how we are hurting financially, is you lost your job, were a long time never-late customer (as we were), no sympathy whatsoever!!!! So, as my husband puts it, we tried, now we're screwing them all!!
