Anyone working on or successful with Green Tree Loan Mod??

I am looking for comments on Loan Modifications with Green Tree Servicing.

I lost my job in February after nearly 25 years at the same job and a year away from my full retirement age. My severance pay has run out and we are using savings to help with mortgage payments. I will get my first social security check next month but even with both my husband's, my check and small retirement checks each month we will not be able to keep up. We planned to retire here and now aren't sure if we can make that happen.

We are up to date on our mortgage payments and have not been late on any other bills as of yet.

This is my first post so I hope it is in the correct Forum.

Thanks in advance for any help you can send my way.

GreenTree is participating in the HAMP program, you don't have to be late on payments to apply. You should start to do your income and expense information to give them over the phone.

Supposedly they are to calculate your payment at 31% of your gross income, and that should include taxes, insurance, principal and interest. You should do the math first to make sure your payment would come out to less money under this program.

Re: Anyone working on or successful with Green Tree Loan Mod??

Hello and welcome to the community!

Green Tree is one of the tougher mortgage servicers to deal with. There have not been any real success stories here. Here are some past member posts about Green Tree that you can research, ask questions and share with if you'd like.

Green Tree Services: Any success?

ASC/Green Tree Modification Help

Anybody tried a loan mod with Green Tree?

It is going to be tough to get help when you are still current also. I know you are trying to do the right thing, but getting help from a debt collector when you are not late is like asking the IRS if they can help reduce your taxes. Kinda the same frame of mind. They are here to get our money.

You can try getting help from a non-profit like NACA. www.NACA.com or www.995hope.org 888-995-hope.

Please ask more questions if you have them and I'd be happy to answer them.
