Should I ask BofA to allow me to pay less until mod?

I have been trying to get the bank to pay attention to my situation for many months. That is hardly news is it? Anyway, I'm not sure I'll be able to get through September if I pay the full amount. The rep from Barbara D.'s office said she could do the paperwork for a partial loan forbearance, but would not recommend it. I am tired of worrying about the payment and am thinking that if I get to pay $1,000 less until they either approve a modification or not I can finally have some breathing room. We will not stay in this house if the loan mod is not approved. I don't think it is worth giving up so much money and peace of mind for a house we have already sunk so much money into.

Is there a negative to paying less until the mortgage is modified?

Thank you

The only negative would be if you were reported as making partial payments or this is reported as a forbearance. Then you will get hit on your credit.

My credit is already ruined with cc debt. I stopped paying them to pay the mortgage.
