I think it's an extremely valuable resource, so a big thank-you to the moderators and others who contribute here. I have a fairly simple question I hope you can help me with. I tried searching past topics and threads but didn't see it mentioned My aunt bought a house during the boom years. She is now in a bad financial situation and wants to apply for a loan modification. I am still reviewing her documents but so far I think she has a fair shot. However, she is not fluent in English, and no way will she be able to call the bank people and the Executive Team to inquire about her case, let alone to negotiate. I don't mind doing it for her since I think I understand the steps involved (thanks to this forum) and I kinda see her as my "mom #2". My question is: do I need any special power of attorney to call the bank and negotiate on her behalf? The bank people are bound to notice as her title is "Ms." and I am male. Thanks much for your help, and for the discussions on this forum. |

(now yours) OK, this is called a "client authorization" or a "borrowers authorization". It is basically a letter with your aunts name, address, ss#, loan# and signature authorizing you to speak on her behalf. If you had to sign anything legal, then that would be a power of attorney. Try downloading the free ebook in my signature and that will help you! I wish you the best of luck and please let us know what the outcome is!
