tax form 4506t

Provident Funding requested me to sign form 4506t this form is to allow the lender to get a copy of my tax return, I just don't trust the banksany longer Why do they really need this form do any one know? I received a e-mail from NACA stating this information.

They can verify your reported income with it. You possibly even signed this as part of your closing documents on the original loan, no?

You had better sign it. This is one of the requirements of President Obama's Making Home Affordable plan. Your modification might not be covered under this plan, but lenders might still use it as part of their modification process.

"All borrowers must fully document income, including signed IRS 4506-T, two most recent pay stubs, and most recent tax return, and must sign an affidavit of financial hardship."

WaMu requires the 4506-t on every mod. Not sure of other lenders though, but that form is VERY important should we be audited or suspect fraud.

I will sign form just wanted to know what you guys thoughts was. Hopefully this is a good sign, because god knows i'm one step from missing a mtg. payment.
