trying to find investor of our loan - Loan Modification Forum

now i know that hsbc in the servicer of loan, but can you tell me how to find the investor of loan without calling hsbc. should that info be on the original loan documents. if so, where?

from what I have been told they don;t have to give that information to you even though citimortgage gave us that info without a second thought. there is a way to find out if it's owned by Freddie or Fannie but for some reason I can't find the contact #'s on the sight right now...I know there here somewehere..theres a phone # or a quick website questionaire..good luck to ya..

i have checked and it's not owned by freddie or fannie.

The investor would not be on the original loan documents, because at the time the loan was originated, there may not have been an investor yet. Lenders sometimes take a bunch of similar loans and package them together into a financial instrument that they sell to large institutional investors.

It is my understanding that the lender is under no obligation to disclose who the investor is.
