Main St. helping Main St. Please post if you run across any American heroes in this crisis, so we can applaud them! I know it seems like Darth Vader is everywhere, these days. LANDLORD GOES BACK TO WORK TO LET UNEMPLOYED TENANTS STAY RENT-FREE The Huffington Post | Julian Hattem Sept. 24, 2009 As the Huffington Post continues to bear witness to the effects of the current economic environment on ordinary Americans, we've found additional compelling stories reported by local news organizations around the country. Andrew Dys of the Rock Hill, SC-based Herald reports that Ed Peirce, 54, works eight hours a day in a Walgreens photo department to cover the costs of two families whose chief breadwinners lost their jobs. Rather than send his tenants -- including small children -- out on the streets, this former stockbroker-turned-savior landlord put himself back to work to cover their expenses out of his own pocket while they get back on their feet. Peirce refused to evict them. He didn't throw the families into the street, though he has every right to. "I sat with them and prayed for better times," Peirce said. "These are stand-up guys. Family men. Proud. They paid me before, when they were working. You don't show your faith, your Christianity, in words. You do it in deeds." ***************** I nominate Mr. Ed Pierce for "Main Street's Hero Of The Day" award for his kind spirit and humanitarian deed toward his fellow Americans during this difficult econ time. Mr. Pierce, thank you for reminding Americans, again, what true "community" means. Your tenants are blessed to have you. |

They gave me an 8:30 appt since I have to fast. They gave me 1PM a couple of months ago and my meds were eating a hole in my stomach by mid afternoon. We went to DQ and had a Blizzard. Sure cured my case of depression for a couple of hours at least. Moe is the biggest hero in my estimation and I am so grateful for him. I believe everyone has an Angel and I think Moe has been assigned to all of Main Street!! We had a good story in the Atlanta paper last week so I'll try to find it and post. There are some really good people in the world but we don't hear about them very often. Sad we have to dig to find uplifting news!! I am really would up over this whole campaign and can't wait to get started. Dottie My verse for the day.....Eccl. 3:1 I think this may be our time. We all get impatient and want everything in OUR time. |
