Question 4 MONTHS into walking in Idaho... lender/insurer wants to try short sale. Hesitant to give info because it is blatantly strategic

    The details:

    married
    bought a townhome at $120k
    $0 downpayment
most recent sales of identical units on same street: ~$80k
credit score prior to missing payments: 750
    NOD received this month
Letter from insurance (requesting financial info) received this month
Not willing to lose $40k if bailing is an option

Anxiety is on the rise. Are we on the right course?

    Hi progression,

Welcome to the forum and thank you for joining...........

You are smart to think that there would be an ulterior motive for trying to get you to submit financials. Then they will have a clear picture of your assets.

Idaho foreclosure laws do allow for deficiency judgements, but before that even happens, you may have the opportunity to settle any deficiency.

There may be other members from Idaho that will chime in and offer their perspective.
