I missed a dot.
State of Oregon: Foreclosure Help

New law to help homeowners

A new Oregon law requires your lender to meet with you - in person or by phone - to discuss a loan modification that could lower your monthly payments and help you stay in your home. If you are facing foreclosure, check your mail for a notice from your lender about this option. When you receive the notice, immediately call your lender or send back the loan modification request form. Click below for more information.New law to help homeowners

It will be interesting to se if we can follow this as times goes on to see if itis being implemented and offereing the homeowner a solution or if it is just another way to make it look like there is help for Main Street.

I hope it is for real and it spreads to other states.

Re: Oregon Foreclosure Laws(new) and Major Event in medford

Well, I know our Senator Jeff Merkley who is newly elected is pushing for alot of reform and was also pushing for the BK cram down since we have a very high foreclosure rate (weve dropped to #11 in the country from #2). It is starting to increase rapidly now in Idaho I heard today on NPR.

I think this may be a bit weak this bill because they can make up all the laws they want, it still comes down to accountability. The lenders can always say they met or talked to you. It doesnt mean they offered you anything that actually worked for you, or that they would even modify your loan. Im skeptical.

I havent heard anyone mention yet who lives in Oregon that they have received this required notification from their lender.
