Bank Calls - Just Stupid

The more your observe and experience some of these banks - you realize these people should not be handling any $$$, responsibilities or sharp objects.

Today's example = their feeble attempts to contact a customer.

AutoDial calls that when you answer ask YOU to identify yourself by inputting account & personal info = hey Stupid, you called me..........don't you know who you are calling?

Auto Dial - when you answer - asks You to not hang up - wait to be connected for important information - and then disconnects you after repeating the same message 3 times = hey stupid, if no one is there to handle the call - then turn off the auto dialer

Gotta love that business

ha ha... I have to agree & have had the same thing happen to me. I think that a lot more people are going to go back to the money in the mattress idea or lockboxes.

Re: Bank Calls - Just Stupid

the funny thing is that these debt collector robocalls are immune from the do not call list apparently. When I moved into my current house, the same house I may be DEFAULTING ON, upon getting my new phone number from day one I started getting these debt collector robocalls, except they were asking for two people neither of which is me......... "Mary Granville" and "Rafatti Baliswami" (or some such, I never quite get the last name of the second person. I also got phone calls from various retailers in the area telling me my check bounced, this was for someone with my actual name (not Mary Granville or Rafatti), but the address was not this one.

So............. I get these harassing calls for a few mos and try to reconcile it by getting the number on do not call etc and discover there is nothing I can do. So I setup google voice and some other things to eliminate the noise and now I never hear those calls.

The funny thing is, NOW I am actually going to get those calls from my own bank, except this time they will be for ME, and I am all setup not to be annoyed by them! Thank you MARY GRANVILLE AND BALA RAFISWAMI! whoever you are.

The do not call registry was never meant to function as a way to shield you from phone calls concerning debts or business needs of a company you have a business relationship with.

The do not call registry exists to prevent _unsolicited_ communications.

Re: Bank Calls - Just Stupid

Yes Knownick but if I am getting DEBT COLLECTION CALLS for somebody that I don't know, nor have ever known, nor has ever lived in my home that I can verify, nor has never had my phone number- then the DO NOT CALL list should be valid, I would think, wouldn't you? Mary Granville and Rafatti blah blah never had relationships with me, of any kind.

These debt collection companies will go so far as to look in a phonebook and find a name that might be close to the person they are looking for and harass that completely innocent person. This has been going on with me for 2 years since I moved into this place. Now that I have made arrangements to deal with it, I am immune from all debt collectors.

Re: Bank Calls - Just Stupid

This is where I give them the term Village Idiots. I have not yet had the pleasure of debt collection calls with BoA, but on my credit card I am behind 30days they call at least 6 times a day. I let me kids answer the phone they have more brains then most of these people.

Re: Bank Calls - Just Stupid

Update - More Stupid
After weeks of not answering BAC home loans (BofA henchmen), decided to deliver the news to them that no $$$ will be sent.
Their methods = 1) Calls from their published #, 2) Text msg to cell phone - with option to stop -which I did) 3) Unpublished Calling # from "offshore"?

Prior attempts to call them have failed because their call system is lacking on so many levels. Called Sat, announcement mentions dallas snow storm which was at least 24 hrs earlier - takes my info via robo voice - puts me on hold - then later tells me they are closed. = just stupid

Today I got a live person kinda today - he asked me why I was calling - huh......I said "you called me". He hits the keyboard a few times - asks if I was calling to make a payment - I said no. He asked when did I get a call - I said Fri - more keyboard - he mumbles something about collection - then says when do you intend to make a payment - I say "I do not plan any payments-no $$$". He asks what do intend to do with the property - i said You can foreclose. He said OK and ended the call.

Definitely not prepared or experienced or maybe just a front line rep used to just taking payments and handling simple requests. Still get the sense that like many companies some of these calls are being handled "offshore".
I do not in anyway think that this will make a difference in their behavior - just so amazing to see the bank's inability to handle the mess they created even after a couple of years.

Hi Daisy - I posted a thread about all the calls I'm getting from my mortgage servicer and how they are basically reading from a script and no matter what I say or how many times I ask they say the same things....someone responded and said that maybe I should use Google Voice, and suggested that I get in touch with you - I looked it up and I have to be invited in order to use it. Can you invite me? Let me know please. Thanks! Jen

Re: Bank Calls - Just Stupid

Reminded me that I did not update.
A couple of days after I initiated the call noted above - I rec'vd a call from BofA who went over the same script even though I told her that it was just covered and should be noted in the system - there was some keyboard tapping - she kinda confirmed but seemed to be determined to complete "her call". Bottom line - asked for payment - I gave same message but added I wanted the calls to STOP. She said the only way was thru a cease & desist letter.

I have not sent a letter but I also have not gotten anymore calls. I do think that if You answer (when you are ready) and give them a sense that no $$$ are coming - it will at least take you off the initial contact (call over & over) list.

The "overseas" calls I mentioned happened twice - late in the evening - 8-9pm with an unpublished number - I never answered those - but they left a message asking to call BofA.

Re: Bank Calls - Just Stupid

If you are thinking about doing a cease and desist letter...do it ASAP. Took B of A about a month to stop calling me and acknowldge the letter I had sent.
