    Spouses charged off debt

I checked my "free" credit reports last night. My husband has been out of the home, under a domestic violence order, for 21 months. He has left no forwarding address and paid none of his bills. I saw on my report, one of my spouse's charge cards, and the report stated this CC had been charged off/bad debt. Exactly what does that mean?
SO even though, one may have a large income, if one is slippery enough and can hide out long enough, one can just get rid of his dept this way, and leave the damage on well..."My" credit....The card wasn't in my name.

I recommend you ask the CRA your question "Exactly what does that mean?" The CRAs allow customers to ask online or by phone.

I suspect the card was joint if you got a credit hit, if you are joint you will indeed take the hit, if you are (a authorized user) that does not affect you.

I suspect either A, you forgot you were joint or B) he signed your name at the time of application.......without your knowledge.

I have seen both cases very frequently....

I completely agree that card must have been joint other wise credit score would not have been hit.

It's not joint. My son said they put them on your report, but don't ding you, but I don't know how to tell that. The man left no forwarding address and avoided the bills, for now 21 months.

they will not my wife has 0 joint cards with me. none of my cards are on her report, none of hers on mine etc. only if joint will it show, not a favorable answer but a realistic one. i would call the card company tell them you are showing a late on a card you are not on - sole husband card - and to supply the signed application or some proof that it is not joint / not in your name, then dispute the card with the 3 credit bearues - remove the card from credit

maybe he put your name on used your income to get approved and signed it if paper app or online app he may know all your info ss# dob etc which is normal and did app without your knowledge, unless your credit is monitored you would not know, also can change mailing address at time of app so you never get paperwork/statements

    english 2nd language sorry
