Good Morning Cassie!

I'm glad you finally got everything sorted out. It took me three phone counseling appointments to get everything right, lol.

I have a friend in Cleveland Ohio who recently involved the NACA with her fight to save her home. She scheduled a face to face appointment with her local office. After reading posts in the forum, I called her and told her to confirm that her appointment was for the Home Save program and not for Home Buyers. Knowing her current financial status, I didn't want her to miss any work if not necessary. She did and they told her that her appointment was indeed for Home Save counseling. She went last week. They went over her budget/financials and already submitted their proposal to HSBC.

Re: Failure is not an option for us....

Hi FLgata,

When I called them here in CALI, they said the Face to Face was only for the new homeowner program. Maybe it is different here? They only have one office in Los Angeles for I believe 3 counties. And that is nothing for the load this area probably carries. I am dealing with someone back East. I have a 5am appointment. (I think) I scheduled a 5 am but it is showing up as a 8am. Maybe because it is 5am at home and 8am back East...who knows. I will take either one!

I really hope mine goes quickly...I wish everyone's could. If I had 3 months of no house payments, I could pay off all the credit cards and personal loans. That would lighten my monthly load over $400.00. I'd still be short though I think.....

I am having another nervous wreck day....

Re: Failure is not an option for us....

Ok, NACA was too busy and was unable to keep any of the 3 appts scheduled for today. I have 3 more scheduled for the 25th. Hopefully they will have recovered from the Save the Dream event in SC. I wish they would have one of those events here. I'd camp out for it!

I remain patient, I know they are swamped, I am still grateful to know there is help out there!

Re: Failure is not an option for us....

I called CW again. Even though we are starting with NACA, I think having it on record that I called again might help. I asked CW if they received my hardship letter I have faxed 3 times to them now. At first the rep (David ext.3588 in the Loan Servicing Center) said no and asked again for me to verify the fax number I sent to. then all of a sudden he said, oh, there it is. We have it and it has been sent to another department for review. I asked if it was the president's office, he hesitated and said yes. Then he told me I should refi....I said I cannot re-fi because I am upside down. He said no they started something new for people who are not late and they don't look at the value of the home. I found that statement confusing! Anyone else heard of that???

He also said the Home Stability plan was an option, I told him that I didn't qualify for that as it wasn't a Freddie or Fannie and the LTV was way off. He said there had been changes to the program and that everyone had received an email about the changes today. He gave me this number to call. 800-556-9568

I called and the recording said there was a newly anounced gov refi. Anyone else been given this number or heard about this?

Doesn't this sound totally out there!?

Re: Failure is not an option for us....

Great....now they are starting something new for people who are not late? i am going to be late for the first time this month! I have been calling CW since 10/08 to let them know I was in hardship status, jumped through the hoops and have gotten three loan mods from them in the last two weeks (with another one on the way according to a voicemail I received two days ago) which are all totally ridiculous!! I never get any emails, and my CW internet link never has anything there except info about my last mortgage payment....

I am going to call that 800 # right now....

Hi Rozuki,

I totally agree! I have been told so many different things, it is hard to know if something is even real!

Might be more smoke to lighten up their phone lines in the retention department! I have also jumped through the rings of fire!

CW Rep: Looks like you qualify for something...give us this, this, this and this...

ME: (Hopes are high) Sends this...this...this and this!

CW Rep: Oh sorry the computer said no....anything else I can help you with today?

ARRGGHH!

Re: Failure is not an option for us....

I am distraught.... I am sitting at my kitchen table in my diningroom on my laptop crying at 6am.

I just had my second NACA phone interview. I was so excited to get the call this morning to finally get this rolling.

Unfortunately the person I got today was not very friendly.

Last time I had a phone interview they said they didn't get my paperwork. Now the woman says I didn't send the right stuff. I sent everything they asked for on the website plus everything the last person told me to send. The woman said, "you didn't send your hardship letter. I told her I did and then she found it. She asked me who was self-employed, I said no-one. She asked me why I sent my bank statements????? I told her the website said that was what was needed and she said well I have these statements in my way... let me see what else you didn't send. Then she said I didn't send my property tax statement, then I told her it was the 3rd to last page of the submission (a print out from the tax assessors website-the last person I spoke to said it would be sufficient as my taxes are impounded in my mortgage) she said it was not sufficient.

Then she said I didn't send the last pay stubs for the month of March. My husband and I don't get paid until TOMORROW! 10th and 26th each month!

Then she said I didn't send the signed authorization! I told her it was last 2 pages of the submission, she said, oh there it is.....

I am getting really scared! I started this with NACA on March 6th. I am no closer to a submission to my lender than I was the first time I submitted my info to NACA over 3 weeks ago.

This woman popped my happy HOPE bubble this morning!

I am so tired of crying....

NACA experience time line:
2/25/2009 Found Loansafe.org
2/26/2009 Researched everything I could find out about NACA (was afraid it

Re: Failure is not an option for us....

Hang in there Cassietw,
It took me several phone appointments before I got everything submitted. One time a rep called me an houre before they were to close and couldnt get all the info in so I had to set up another appointment to finish. I know its frustrating but you cant get discouraged. Just keep good records, make copies of everything and submit them by fax and email 2x if need be. There is a link were you can check you documents that have been received, if that doesnt help you can also call or do an online chat before your next appt to verify that all of your docs are there. I even had to insist that the reps double check when they would tell me they didnt see certain docs and I know that another rep told me they were there.

Re: Failure is not an option for us....

Cassie...

The folks at NACA are under alot of pressure too. If they sound gruff, you need to remember how much work is in front of them and on their table..Im sure they get alot of people who DONT send in the right papers...theres alot of stress .

The Hope bubble:
It's sometimes easy to build up hopes because of other peoples posts on here. Tending to forget that each individuals circumstance is different...the "I heard that..." comments, etc...can make us forget that this is a long, tough process.... Hope is a good thing to have, but it needs to be tempered with patience and a dose of low expectations.

A place I go to says"Keep your hope high, and your expectations low"...

This is not said to damper anybodys hopes, etc....it is said so that -when these days happen- it doesnt bring you down to a deep place.

Remember...sometimes when folks post here and get your hopes high because of something they heard or got.....they are sometimes so jubulant they "embelish" results or may have gotten to happy too soon also.

Your process is your process....it cannot be based on someone elses.

Keep your hope....

Thanks for the posts....It's hard to see some get through this in a month or two and then to know that it has almost been a month and I can't seem to get things rolling on my end. Next appt is Friday. I just wish they would review the docs before they call and imply that they aren't there when they are........

Re: Failure is not an option for us....

Cassietw,it took 3 weeks of interacting with naca (over the phone) before my documents were submitted. Like you, 2 of my phone interview were late, I submitted my documents a couple of times because they were either not recieved or did not show the details correctly. In addition, I had to get additional information that I didnt have available, the list goes on.

Needless to say, I was approved with the rounds of 3/19 folks and i'm waiting on the paperwork from cw.

Please be patient with NACA, they are a great org and they were very helpful and nice to me and my situation

OMGosh Cassie--I am so sorry to hear about the frustrations you are going through I've cried many a tear myself over our situation, had many anxiety attacks and health issues to finally get to the point that we are...
I know NACA is overwhelmed, overbooked, and probably more stressed than we can imagine. Please don't take it personally that things did not go perfectly. I'm sure that it will finally fall into place at the perfect time.
I also wanted to apologize if I have been over jubilant about the results we are expecting. Dan is so correct in his post that each individual loan and procedure is on a case by case basis, so what happens to some will not happen to all and vice versa. I will send you some positive thoughts today that things go better.
Take care friend

Good Afternoon Cassie,

I had the same thing happen to me. I understand your frustration. What I did was print off a copy straight from my CW online account and supplied that along with the printed copy from the tax assessors site.

It took me three phone sessions to get everything right. The whole process is stressful and time consuming, but in the long run, it will be worth it.

Try to keep your chin up!

Re: Failure is not an option for us....

Hi teenut, Dan, itscatnip, MP927 and FLgata...

Thanks all for your posts today.

I had printed off a copy from the LA tax assessors website, but it only had the assessors ID # and not the property address. I had also printed off the tax data from Countrywide. Now I had to go back to the assessors and print screen info that showed the property address and the assessor's ID # on it to tie-in the data. I think they are being more difficult on this because my numbers probably look really wrong to them. They may be assuming the impound amounts are incorrect, but my taxes are current and the impounds are correct.

I bought my home from my mother and we qualified to keep the assessed value and property tax amount as it was when my mother owned the property (grandfathered). Hence my taxes are only about $210 a month versus over $500.

I also went to the link for suggestions on NACA and told them it might save them and homeowners valuable time if they would update their requirements on their website. Stage 4 still reads to NOT provide the data if impounded in the mortgage. This has been found to be untrue. Also they state it is helpful to provide bank statements if possible. I was told my bank statements were in her way this morning....

Just knowing this could have gone smoother from the start and 2 wasted phone appointments and time...all could have been avoided if the site had been updated is a bit frustrating. Not so much my time as the time it is costing NACA which is very valuable.

I have past experience in web design (I know I am outdated and rusty) but could and would be willing to help. I have tried to volunteer already and they told me to call back after NACA has successfully helped me in my situation. They won't let me help now....

Re: Failure is not an option for us....

Cassietw

I know how hard it is to be patient, we are at 60 days since NACA submitted to CW and it is driving us just crazy waiting. Our first phone appt. with NACA we were told we also needed more paperwork, Home Insurance and property tax bills, had to wait for another phone appointment.
It is hard to see others getting approved when it hasn't been so long as you have been waiting. I just keep telling myself that it is because their situation must have been much worse than ours.
Keep the faith. None of us are in this alone. I'm so glad that I found this website. I would never have known about NACA and it's great to know you can come on here and talk about your situation and frustrations with people who know and understand.

Re: Failure is not an option for us....

Hi dthom, I know I need to be patient. It helps to have a place to talk about it here though....

Has anyone received an email like the below from NACA? I have done the steps, submission 2 phone calls and the workshop. (Husband and I both attended) But today I received this email.... (this is not helping me be patient or remain calm!)

Received at 7:36pm today.....

***PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS AN AUTOMATED MESSAGE. DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE BY EMAIL. **THIS IS AN OUTBOUND CALL CENTER IN WHICH CALLS CANNOT BE RECEIVED** IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, PLEASE CALL (888) 302-6222.

Hello, I am contacting you to see if you are still in need of assistance from the NACA HomeSave Program. If you are, please go to the NACA website at www.naca.com and click on HOMESAVE to complete the Ten Steps. Your hardship letter is extremely important as it will be sent to your lender to explain why you fell behind and how you plan to stay current in the future. The first step in the process is to attend a NACA HomeSave Workshop in your area. You may also complete the other steps and submit your required documentation, so that you are ready to be counseled by your appointment date. Fax in the required documents using your NACA fax cover sheet or you can scan them in to your computer and click the upload documents link on the NACA website. We will need the following items to complete your counseling session:

1. Pay Stubs- last 30 days for all household members. We will also need to document any other income to include child support, SSI, retirement, etc. If self-employed, we must have the last 6 months of complete bank statements with all pages in sequence. Please identify all deposits and business expenses on each statement and attach a cover sheet listing these totals for each month.
2. Mortgage Statement (most recent available).
3. Property Tax Bill from the city or county where you reside.
4. Homeowners Insurance Bill showing the amount of the annual premium.
5. Member Authorization for both you and all other adult household members. You must print out form then each physically sign and return.

Once you have completed these steps you will have the option to schedule an appointment. Please note, all times are Eastern Standard Time. NOTE: IN THE EVENT THAT WE DO NOT RECEIVE THIS INFORMATION WITHIN 5 BUSINESS DAYS, WE WILL ASSUME THAT YOU ARE NO LONGER INTERESTED IN THE NACA PROGRAM AND YOUR MEMBERSHIP WILL BECOME INACTIVE. We look forward to assisting you with a HomeSave solution.

Re: Failure is not an option for us....

One more thing...the above email I received says an authorization from all adult household members and paystubs from all adult household members...... I have two adult children, one is 20 and one is 19. My son is completely broke looking for work for the last 3 weeks to a month now, tons of interviews but too many people applying. My daughter is on a horribly tight budget and has just moved back in and is starting her divorce with basically nothing. She was going to start paying some rent in April but could not even afford to give me anything for March and had to borrow to move back home......

This NACA program is so confusing to me!!!

cassietw,
I think they are just looking for the authroization from all household members on the loan. I had to print this out, have my husband and I sign it then faxed it in. I dont think you need to include your adult children

Re: Failure is not an option for us....

Hi teenut,

You are right. They didn't need the kids stuff. I had previously scheduled a back-up appt for today. (Glad I did!)

All paperwork is finally received and they are sending our proposal to CW today!

The (worry wart I am) was thinking it would be another 10 phone appointments to get this done! The person I spoke to today was absolutely wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just knowing the proposal is being sent today is already a huge relief. I know that it is now up to my lender and investor, but it still makes me feel better! Anything to take the edge off that does not include pharmaceuticals is good for me!

I want to thank loansafe again for this site and the enormous amount of data and support it supplies....clueing me into NACA!!!

I want to thank all of loansafe members who have supported me when I was having MENTAL moments!

Now it is time for the wait....

Call lender and NACA in 30 days for follow-up.

Give lender 45 days to respond.

Mitigators work with lender to come to an agreement if original proposal is not accepted. They are shooting for the 31% of Gross (Obama)

BREATHE.............Deep breathe. Now we wait.

Re: Failure is not an option for us....

Cassietw,
Im glad you got it all done. I know it could be stressful. I told you I had several phone appointments before we got it right. I think that process took me almost a month. I am optomistic you will have good news. I wouldnt even bother contacting CW. Once they know that you are with NACA they will refuse to speak with you. You can try the advocacy dept and give them your NACA id# but from my perception of that dept., they could care less. Good luck and I am praying for you and everyone else as well as myself that I get my MOD docs soon!

Hi Cassie,

When you know that all your paperwork has been submitted to CW, you may want to call the CW Advocacy Group and give them your NACA ID#. This is the department at CW which handles the non-profit organizations.

Advocacy Group: 877-327-9225
