| I need direction & guidance I was referred to you by a wife of one of my former co-workers, who has a success story through Citi-Residential - all THANKS to you folks here on this site. Cat, she mentioned you by name :-). It took her a couple of months but she says it all started here - and I am hoping that you can help me also.
For the sake of time and because I know that you are very busy people.I am going to give you the facts, and try my to leave my emotion and STRESS out of it :-)
1. I was informed that my position with my employer was going to be eliminated as of Nov 1st. They are paying me thru today Nov 14th, simply because they needed to provide me with my last paycheck.
2. My loan is with Countrywide. It is a 30 yr conventinal @ 6.5%, and fairly new. my 1st payment was in Aug 2008.
3. Prior to this, I had a loan with them also - for approximately 1 yr, then I refinanced with another loan company - that ended up being sold to Countrywide. Made a full circle.
4. Payments have been up to date with this loan - however, I have not made November's payment & after 11/17 (Monday) I will incur a late charge.
5. If I make this payment (November) - I have 2 choices, either give them all the money I have on hand - or charge it on my credit card.
But what happens next month? I end up defaulting anyway.
6. I have started applying for jobs in this 2 week lag (from notification & last day of employment )- however, jobs are scarce and even when I do find a job, I doubt if it can pay for a $3067 mortgage and my family's living expenses.
7. Unemployment will pay approx $2000 per mo. starting next month. I have 6 children, and a husband that got released from Federal Prison last year - who has a job that pays minimum wage. $900 a month contribution to our household.
8. I contacted Countrywide's modification depart. to let them know the situation, and wanted to see what my options are before I go into default and start losing major sleep!! "Victor" told me that I need to fax a hardship letter, my last paystub, and 2 months of bank statements and someone would get back to me. I HAVE NOT FAXED THEM, BECAUSE I WANTED TO SPEAK TO YOU FIRST.
In closing, here are my questions:
1. Do I have to be in default before they help me?
2. Do I have a better chance of being helped/heard if I am in default or if I try and keep current (pay this month like I mentioned above)?
3. Who do I contact there so I don't fall thru the *****s?
I want to do the right thing, I want to do the smart thing, and I don't want to lose my house. About 10 yrs ago I went thru bankruptcy and almost lost my home then. I really don't want to go thru that stress again - and blow my credit that I have been trying REALLY HARD to rebuild for all these years. Of course this is going to be the least of my worries, but like I said, I want to do the smart thing.
Please, please, can you help? I appreciate all of you, and am so encouraged by all the testimonies I have read here in the forum.
I would like you to read my hardship letter also, so if you could let me know how to attach it or send it to you. I can't figure it out. Do I just cut & paste?
