| Nine months without success at modification with Countrywide I have been attempting to work with Countrywide Mortgage to have my rates frozen since January, 2008. I have sent as of today, three requests to their work-out department. The first time I was turned down without being told. I found out when I called to check up on it that I had been turned down a month previously. The second attempt began on June 17, 2008. I was originally told the process of having my account assigned to a negotiator would take 30 days. Three times since then, when I called to check on the progress, I’ve been told the process was being expedited and would take an additional 5 – 7 days. Today I was told I needed to start the process all over again for no reason. My financial situation has not changed outside of my rate increasing in July and it becoming increasingly more difficult to make my payments. I was told by Sharon, a supervisor with Countrywide that the reason my case kept getting bumped was because I was current on my mortgage. I confirmed with her that if I want anything to happen, I need to let my mortgage payment fall behind by a month. It was my understanding that to qualify for the rate freeze, it was necessary to be current on your mortgage. Can you give me any information/insight into this situation? |
