Ernestina Lara is on a distinguished road
RE: Begging for Help

My name is Ernestina Lara. In 2004, we purchased our dream home in a fantastic neighborhood with great schools for our three children to attend. Unfortunately, in 2006, my husband suffered a collapsed lung and was hospitalized for almost one week. He continued to suffer from various health issues and was in and out of various emergency rooms and medical providers. We accumulated thousands of dollars in medical bills, which we are still paying for. This was the beginning of our downfall. My husband and I were both self-employed at the time he owns a fence installation company, and I owned a home cleaning service. With his health being so poor, he was obviously out of work for about 1 1/2 years. We have medical bills to this date that we are trying to pay, but there are so many and everytime I think we are done paying them, I receive new ones. It is overwhelming for my entire family dealing with my husband's health, it was something we never expected at his age (under 40), but it did and we are trying our best to keep afloat in a sinking ship. I did my best to run my business as well as my home, but unfortunately was unable to keep my business and had to return to work as a secretary at a law firm. Now that my husband's health is better, his business has suffered and unfortunately has not been as productive as in prior years. In total we make approximately $5,600 a month income. Our desire is to be able to repay the entire delinquent amount added to the back end of the loan as well as obtain a lower rate. As I stated earlier, our home is in foreclosure as of July 25, 2008, and I know we are running out of time. I am desperately begging for assistance so that we can remain in our dream home and our children can remain at the same schools where they are currently enrolled in gifted programs and continue to excel. Our entire family would be devistated if we would have to leave our home and great neighbors. We would not even know where to begin starting over if forced to move. I know that Countrywide has a large amount homes in foreclosure and I am sure you do not need one more added to this failing market, especially when we are willing to continue paying for it if we can just get lower interest and payments. I am down on my knees begging for assistance so that we can remain in our dream home. Thank you.

Re: Begging for Help

Hi Ernestina,
if you look over to the left, you'll see a section called "Homeowners tools". I would first draft out a hardship letter as per the examples given in there. Post it up for Cat, Moe or Andrew to take a look at.
If possible, you may want to hire a Real Estate Attorney also since it is so late in the ballgame...they may request a QWR from Countrywide which will find red flags in the document process. You can also request a QWR (example of how to do it in the "homeowners toolbox)
