please help ,someone! I need advice Asap!

I am so glad to find this site page. I cant believe how many people have had problems with countrywide. Here is my story, and I am not sure if anyone can help or not. Right now I feel hopeless. However I do hope my information I have found out directly can help someone else out from our learning experiences. I am so scared to write this information but I truly want to find out more informatioin cause countrywide wont talk to us. Said to call their attorney.

We called countrywide on our VA loan and worked out a modification plan. Anyways, the payment was to be made on time and I thought it was. In error of communication (which was our fault) between my husband and I it didnt get made. Anyways, in less than 20 days I recieved foreclosure papers. In the bottom of those foreclosure papers there was legal aid number to call for help. So I did for legal aid and got the aid. Then, the next day we got attorney papers from Countrywide on whom they were being represented by. I called for a quote on the final cost of what it would be to pull out of foreclosure and they (a recording) said it would be 7-10 business days way of email or mail to get that figure. (in themeantime let those fees just add up) Then, I get the figure and call my attorney and fax it to her. The past due payments (4 at most) were way way over what we owed. (now found out could be attorney fees from what I have read on here).
My question to anyone on here........whats next. Our attorney now says we are requesting a mediation and hopefully can do a modification, repayment.(per attorney said CW is very hard to work with) We dont have all this money to pay up to date. We are more than able to afford our mortgage and we arent overextended. We are selling everything in the meantime just to try and make this huge amount they want(which is hard to do cause the economy stinks). We want to desperatly save our home. We were put in this position due to legal situations with someone. Then I still maintained payments here and there when we were still behind. At one time ,Countrywide told me I could send at least one monthly payment or they wanted the full amount(they wouldnt take two, said wouldnt apply to payment or make a difference so dont send it). Also, through legal aid, they offered a service called ESOP....not sure about this program at all, but said it is basically an alliance team of attorneys whom have good contacts with Countrywide and other banks. Anyone heard of them?? We went to the VA for help, and now that it is in foreclosure they tell us they cant help at all. They had no sympathy and basically said I needed to go back to work (self employed in daycare at home) which makes no sense, I make more working at home then I would working fulltime at a job with two very small children at home. (Daycare is costly and we couldnt get assistance to help) Anyways.............my questions are has anyone heard of Esop, ??
What do they do in a VA loan situation?? Are they more apt to just foreclose than work with you since it it basically guaranteed money to them?? And if we defaulted on one loan modification, what are the chances they will do it again in court in our mediation?? Is this the best way or the repayment?? How much should we expect to take with us. I have read and heard so many horror stories and let me tell you I am sick to my stomach, I have to keep our home and I cant stress to anyone more than how bad we need to keep this home for legal reasons .....cant go into that one is a long story in itself. Can anyone help me on giving me more information. The home is in Ohio. We havent got our mediation date yet. Attorney said could be 6 weeks. Not sure. I hate sitting on pins and needles but let me tell you.....this had been one learning experience and I dont care if I have to eat romaine noodles for the month and live like the Amish, I will never ever fall behind on my mortgage again. This stress is just unbearable on a marriage and ourselves.

Don't give up hope, many of us are in similar situations and there have been alot of success stories...I know how hard it can be getting the run-around with countrywides "phone calls and e-mails"

Thanks Dan. Also forgot to tell you. I opened a seperate savings account and put our normal monthly payment in it so they would know we are serious in wanting to keep our home. I hope this helps alot too.

O.K. then...............ESOP is a non profit available in your state to help homeowners that are facing foreclosure..............so I would definately call them right away and see if they can step in at this point and offer you some help with the lender............

Thanks ***. Just wanted to update you on more of this information I forgot to tell you. Sorry I didnt make myself more clearer. The legal service gave me papers to fill out for this. That is why I was asking more on it and if it was any good and have they been able to help alot of people out there. Also maybe to help someone else on here too that didnt know about it. They told me it would be 2-3 weeks before we know if they "approve" me to see if they could help us. In the meantime the attorney motioned for a mediation......All I know is this is such a stressful issue, and it seems like I keep hearing and reading all these horror stories from everyone out there and being this is a VA loan.....concerns me dearly cause from what I hear they can want to foreclose on these loans since it is guaranteed money for them...No one seems to want to reply on a VA either they dont know about them or you call the VA and they wont help. Feel like we are on eggshells now, and that because of this they can pull this house out from under our feet anytime. that is why I am writing to you all to see if anyone knows more about it cause I am not getting any answers anywhere else. Now after reading about all these modification stories, I am really scared.
