I was lurking on the boards and going through the same frustrations as many of you. Every time I called
CW someone new was on my account, and we had to start over (how much do you make, what do groceries cost - oh, thats not enough, I have a table for Illinois), no guarantee, this will take at least a month blah blah blah.
Then on Wednesday, I got a call. The caller id was 1000000000, and a recorded message said be expecting a Fed Ex package from Countrywide and Fannie Mae in the next few business days with an offer to help you.
I called
CW, of course call routed to wrong department. Waited again, turns out this program is putting my past dues into a differed payment program where I start paying in December less than $200 per month and resume payments in June.
Is anyone familiar with the program? Are there any catches?
Also here is where it gets weird (or, at least, typical Countrywide):
They said the package was sent Tuesday on 2 day Fed Ex - but "we sent so many we don't have tracking numbers," and they do not know where they shipped from-not even the city! Of course, Thursday comes and goes, no package. Being a bit Type A and enjoying a good spar with Countrywide now and then (although the playing poker with my homes future is a bit stressful) I demanded a tracking number. They still do not have one. FedEx shows a shipment was entered for my PO Box, but a label was never generated. Of course Countrywide / Heart says "well see if it shows up today."
I went ballistic. I am still waiting for an answer.
But, I do offer these tidbits. Call Countrywide TODAY and see if you are in this program. You may be approved but do not know it. Who knows where
CW called and sent your paperwork? This is not something I even applied for. It just happened in the course of the normal work out circus. Also, it apparently needs to be wrapped up by the end of May. Apparently 37,000 offers are on the table.
I am surprised no one has posted on this. I will let you know what happens, and I would like to hear from others on this while I wait, impatiently.
